To the US media whining about wanting a presidential news conference

You will get to ask the president questions when the president decides you will get to ask him questions. Stop acting as if you entitled to this, you are not. The executive branch of the government has a huge operation to provide you with information and they do so every day. They do not have to even do that for you.

The irony is delicious

Tex on every post he makes shoots to be the stupidest person in the room,he seldom fails.

Yeah, cause the American people don't need to know what the hell our President is doing.  Nope, not like we don't need to worry about the government trying to screw us over or anything.   :whatever:

Whoa-ho.

Doesn't that sound a little, uh, totalitarian?

Wait a minute. These same DUmmies clamor for The Won to go on TV and tell the citizens how benevolent and kind he is and that His health care plan will cure all ills. If only he would talk to the people they would finally understand His good and kind intentions.

1. And it wasn't that long ago the freaking media was whining about too many press conferences ruining their lovely prime time line up.

Screw em!

5. Same thing I was thinking.

I mean, I could go into a lengthy thing here about the press being a vital part of democracy, of the press' being enshrined in the First Amendment, so important did the founding fathers consider it ... but, what'd be the point?

8. The president not taking direct questions from the media does not prevent an ongoing free press.

4. I do not need to hear my President speak to know that he is working for us

The media should focus on other things and not worry about when the President will talk to them. He will talk to them when it is something important.

7. Notice he hasn't done any since Lynn Sweet's little showboating question about Dr. Gates arrest

Indeed, as you said, there is only a right to free speech and free press, not a right to access to the president.

When the corporate media decides to start covering the news* fairly, then we can talk.

* "News" of course means NOT Tiger Woods latest sexcapades.

10. When people use the word whining, I stop listening.

I've noticed it's become one of those words used to universally attack any argument.

Don't like DADT? You're a whiner. Upset about HCR, or the lack of it? Stupid whiner. Think it's not a bad idea for the President of the United States to stand before the press and answer questions more than once in a blue moon? Sit down, shut up and quit whining.

I think people that use the word whining again and again as a way to escape any real dialog are just assholing.

Good find, Carl.

So much for the "most transparent administration in history"...

Who was it that wanted Bush to go on This Week, Face the Nation, et al. nearly every time it was aired so they could take jabs at his diction?

Where was this DUmmie during President Bush's 8 years?  He never got a fair treatment from the media.

15. Hoo Boy! Some people can't see right vs. wrong they can only see right vs. left
I remember seeing this same crap on freerepublic. I thought left leaning people were smarter than this. The president regardless of party line should answer to the public and since the media represents the public he should answer to them.

Whats the point of voting a guy if he's going to stay hidden and do business in secret?

The difference is that President Bush knew every question would be a "gotcha" one and even though O will be Monica`d he is terrified of the event without the teleprompter.

I'm sure he'd hold a press conference a couple of times a week if the questions were submitted and approved in advance. Otherwise, they aren't able to load up the teleprompter. Or maybe he could get rid of the teleprompter and use that Mission Impossible thing they always said Dubya had in his ear.

Even though they still worship O I do remember back when the press got their fill of Carter and am wondering if his treating them like annoying children will sooner or later catch up with him.

Pearl, do you know what a press conference is?   cause I can't remember the last time he had one.

It was over 30 weeks ago. The DUmmies don't don't know the difference between a press conference and a prepared speech.  All they know is that they go all tingly when they see him on TV.

They may tire of him some day, but it's not happening yet. CNN and PMS seem to televise an hour of him live nearly every day, giving a speech with a peanut gallery of DUmmies smiling behind him, and a teleprompter in front. No previous president has had even a tiny fraction of the free exposure he gets. It's just like it must be with Yugo on Venezuelan TV.

I actually agree with asdjrocky here.  I have added "whining" to the list of words I have come to hate in the past year.  He makes a good point that it is not a salient counter-arguement to just claim someone is "whining."
And, unless some long-lost wealthy aunt has left me something interesting in her will, I do not want to hear the word "inherit" ever again.
