Title: ObamaCare at Ramming Speed

Quote
The White House shows it has no interest in compromise.

A mere three days before President Obama's supposedly bipartisan health-care summit, the White House yesterday released a new blueprint that Democrats say they will ram through Congress with or without Republican support. So after election defeats in Virginia, New Jersey and even Massachusetts, and amid overwhelming public opposition, Democrats have decided to give the voters what they don't want anyway.

Ah, the glory of "progressive" governance and democratic consent.

"The President's Proposal," as the 11-page White House document is headlined, is in one sense a notable achievement: It manages to take the worst of both the House and Senate bills and combine them into something more destructive. It includes more taxes, more subsidies and even less cost control than the Senate bill. And it purports to fix the special-interest favors in the Senate bill not by eliminating them—but by expanding them to everyone.

The larger political message of this new proposal is that Mr. Obama and Democrats have no intention of compromising on an incremental reform, or of listening to Republican, or any other, ideas on health care. They want what they want, and they're going to play by Chicago Rules and try to dragoon it into law on a narrow partisan vote via Congressional rules that have never been used for such a major change in national policy. If you want to know why Democratic Washington is "ungovernable," this is it.

Dems are threatening to use reconciliation to pass ObamaCare. But reconcilition is intended for budget bills.  By piggybacking the legislation onto a budget bill, Democrats would be able to advance the bill with a simple majority of just 51 votes, averting a Republican filibuster in the Senate.

Particularly given the perceived shift in political winds, I think they might have trouble getting their rank and file Representatives to go for the reconciliation gambit, as it is quite foreseeable that this genie could be unleashed on them in 10 short months once they let it out of the bottle.

I'd say that not only will that genie appear, but he'll send a whole bunch of those losers on a magic carpet ride -hopefully to someplace where they'll remember what happened to them.

I read the hard copy of that editorial during lunch. There can be no doubt in anybody's mind what Lord Zero's true intentions are (if there ever was any doubt). The WSJ generally takes a wry approach to Lord Zero's stupidity, pointing out the obvious and the not-so-obvious stories behind the scenes.

This time, the editors are openly scornful.

Let's hope the Republicans stand fast in this battle.

It would be amusing if all the republicans walked out about 1/2 way through Zero's little farce.

That would be 'way too cool to actually happen, sadly.  In my version of the fantasy they then beat Gibbs to the waiting press and tell them Obama's 'Bipartisanship' was a demand to "Agree with me or else" and as free men, representing free men and women, not subjects of King or Dictator, they had no choice but to leave.

The ones to stay until it's half over should be properly identified as the unsalvagable RINO cocksuckers they are. The ones who still believe the constitution has a role in our government should properly rise when Lord Zero enters the room, and walk out as the jug-eared Kenyan usurper in chief walks in.

Fox was reporting this morning that the CBO office is saying it's impossible to determine the cost of Obama's bill prior to Thursday.

Someone else on Fox said that it was in excess of $900 billion.....isn't that more than the other ones?

I like that idea even better than mine.
