Title: Fantasy Baseball League
Post by: Odin's Hand on February 22, 2010, 09:24:06 AM
Any interest this year?

Yes, just haven't gotten around to starting a league.

Will probably do the same as last year, combining people from here and CU so we can have somewhat of a complete league.

Want me to set it up again?

Bumping for more owners.

The live draft isn't for another four weeks, but we're only at 5 teams right now.

Tuesday night--the draft night--is the only night next week that I won't have choir duties at my church. :-)

I'm doing an auction draft right now for the first time ever, and I've been playing fantasy baseball since 1991.  The auction thing is weird and tough.

Interesting experience, this auction draft on Yahoo.  Started at 3:00 CT, and is almost over.  I'm done picking, but there are a few guys who still have some money left to spend on $1 players.

I'm promoting it here and at CU, that's the best I can do.

After I mistakenly grabbed David Wright instead of who I wanted in the first round (Mark Teixeira, I think), my wife came over to me and told me that our daughter wanted me to read her one of her favorite books as a bedtime story.  So, I put it on autodraft and went in to read her a story or two . . . and say nighttime prayers with her.  When I came back, all of the starting pitchers I had wanted were gone.

Teixeira lasted until round 2, because I took him there after taking Ryan Braun in the 1st.

I'm wondering a lot if Wright will re-gain his power at Citi Field...very bizzare that he only hit 10 HR's last year after being a very solid power hitter for several years.  Also curious if Jason Bay will hit some HR's there.  That place was WAY worse than Shea for hitters.

For the most part, the myth that CitiField is worse than Shea was is just that--a myth.  Let's remember that Wright got absolutely no protection in that lineup last year.  With Reyes being down, and Beltran, and Delgado, and so on, Wright was the last guy standing, until he got beaned.

I know how decimated their lineup was, but nobody hit HR's for the Mets last year.  Wright is a stud and was healthy (other than the beaning) all year, hell even Ryan Zimmerman for the Nats hit 30 HR's, and that team sucked.  Most sites that I've read are predicting a huge comeback year for Wright...I just don't know.  Guys who drop from 30 HR's to 10 are usually injured...it should be interesting to see how he does this year.

Yes... I noticed...  :-)

Oh well, I didn't do too bad. The last few rounds were hard, but I was happy with my first half dozen picks or so.

He has said, this spring, that he changed his swing due to the perceptions of how Citi was going to play.

He'll have a decent year.  Homers don't happen enough to rely on heavily in fantasy...  high Avg. guys are more important.

Gotta agree with RO here.  Bay's gonna see 30 HRs or so, and he'll see a fair amount of fastballs due to David Wright being ahead of him in the lineup.  When Jose Reyes gets back, that's another one who will affect how pitchers pitch to the rest of the lineup.  Even with Angel Pagan and Luis Castillo as the 1-2 hitters, Bay will see fastballs.

Bay is hitting many homers on the DL.

I didn't say he'd hit 30, just that he'd see 30.
