Goodbye and thanks for all the fish
I simpy cannot pretend to support any longer a President, Administration and Party that I believe have sold me out at every juncture on every single issue I care deeply and passionately about:
No real healthcare reform
No financial regulation, oversight or reform
Environmental concerns - faggeddabouttit
The need for bi-partisanship overriding the quality of end product (?)
No concern about the Rule of Law - the actually underpinning of any real society
Worker's issues - living wages, healthcare, etc.
They don't care about me - I don't care about them. Pretty simple. My self-identity and worth is not dependant on whether I am a "good Democrat" or a "loyal Democrat". Same for DU. I am NOT a good and loyal Democrat because I am appalled at what is going on and I don't rationalize or excuse it with "It would be a lot worse if THEY were in power". Not good enough.
For people who may doubt my sincerity - I have posted here almost exactly 5 years, 10,000 posts. I came here after Kerry's loss in 2004 and found this as the place where Democrats regrouped and re-strategized. I have voted straight Democratic ticket since 1980 in every single race - primary, local, state and federal. I have contributed and have had yard signs.

Why not let everyone know exactly why I am leaving the site and the party?
Would you prefer that people just stop showing up at the polls or posting here?
I'm leaving voluntarily because I don't honestly feel I can advance a Democratic agenda any longer, because I don't feel they are advancing mine. My understanding is that this is a "pro-Democrat" site. Which was fine by me - until recently. I cannot honestly say I am "pro-Democrat" anymore. Why should I be "pro-Democrat"? What's in it for me - or the rest of our society?
