NORMAN, Okla. -- A Norman resident has sued to get a proclamation of his sexual preference on the Oklahoma license tag he displays on the back of his car.
But state officials have declined to provide Keith Kimmel, 28, with a vanity tag that says IM GAY, and now he's suing to get it.
The Oklahoma Tax Commission turned Kimmel down last year because of an internal rule against special license tags that "may be offensive to the general public."
The political science-pre-law student at Oklahoma City Community College filed suit Wednesday in Oklahoma County District Court. His suit asked District Judge Noma Gurich to order tax officials to grant his application for the IM GAY tag.

Wonder if the "dude" would be OK with a license plate that said "NOT GAY"? I kinda doubt it.

And when he gets assaulted and/or murdered....he or his family will be suing everybody and their brother because the guy announced his sexuality on his license plate!!!
What the heck is wrong with just getting the letters/numbers that randomly come on the plates?
I had neighbors at that had "HIS" and "HERS" on their license plates. They also put plaques that said the same over the top of their garage door. I think the HOA sent them a letter suggesting they take down the plaques.
I figured if they needed license plates and plaques over the garage to tell them which car to drive and where to park it....they realllllly didn't need to be driving. :mental:

Yeah, but, a B.A. in Political Science from OCCC is going to be pretty damn difficult to get considering they only offer associate degree programs.

Guy at work had a plate that read Idiot.
Hearse turned private with U R Next in VA.
Some of the Asians try to get through the department with obscenities in their language .
Guy who was a high school janitor in Maine had Satan on his plate. weird dude, he stole my cat.
New York driving through saw a very attractive woman in an expensive bright red convertable with Dobl-DS on her plate.
Then there is Signfield and the plate that read Ass-man.
Spell check shows that Ass-man is very close to OBAMA.

OKLAHOMA CITY -- Norman Police confirmed they are investigating the death of Keith Kimmel who made national news earlier this year after suing the Oklahoma Tax Commission to approve his request to have "IM GAY" put on his license plate.
Kimmel was found dead Wednesday morning.

Kimmel writes that the officers "beat him" while attempting to make an arrest at a club in Tulsa last Friday. Kimmel ended up having to stay the night in the hospital.
Tulsa police confirm they did get the complaint in the mail Wednesday, but said everything else is still under investigation. A 911 log indicates police were called out to the club by a bartender. Police say the bartender called police because he needed an intoxicated white male removed from the premises.
