This will become public next week (OS backs an R for office)
I am endorsing a REPUBLICAN for office in the City of Omaha. The city has an open council seat with 3 years remaining on the term. Tim Lonergan is a Republican. He is pro-labor. I know him and trust him. This is a heads up. I hope I don't loose any friends here on the DU over my bipartisanship.
OS
Chips are flying.
Will he or won't he get TS'd?

3. in local politics, ideology isn't as important as competence
I've supported an R over a D before for a city office.

7. It's only been in the last nine years that I've become allergic to ever voting for
a Republican and even so, I voted for the Republican AG here, though I won't vote for him if he runs for governor.

12. interesting ....
when he says pro-labor, does he support unions?
what defines him as a republican?
just curious.
I trust your judgment; if you think he's good and trustworthy, he must be pretty exceptional. you won't get any protests from me.
Enough people here to fill a Pizzeria. :lmao:

DU seems to be on its way to becoming "Teabagger" Underground - people voting for the sensible candidate instead of whomever is likely to bring fresh ponies ?
Hell must be experiencing its version of global cooling..

The rerason their is a need to have a new council man is the current seat holder has had a heart attack and a stroke at the same time so this week he resigned when it loooked like he was unable to keep his seat.. The replacement will likely be a Republican no matter who little stevie wonder picks since the area is heavily Republican anyway. Asshat

That explains a lot.

That explains a lot.
Yet, it explains nothing to a DUmb****.

Yeah, my felllow Nebraskan Omaha Stevie-Boy doesn't have much choice, as there aren't any rabid wild-eyed extremists running in that race, which by the way is non-partisan.
As for my fellow Nebraskan's candidate being "labor friendly," one wonders where Omaha Stevie-Boy's been all these years; all (R)s in Nebraska are labor friendly, and so nothing new there.
Probably Omaha Stevie-Boy's never closely examined campaign literature distributed in Nebraska during election seasons. The (R) campaign stuff always has that little thing on the back, that one seal, reminding one the materials were printed by union labor; (D) campaign stuff is produced in photocopying sweat-shops.
I think my fellow Nebraskan needs to get out more.
