Title: Tuesday
Post by: thundley4 on February 09, 2010, 09:33:03 AM
We have about 6" of snow on the ground, and the storm is moving east to further compound the problems on the eastern seaboard. Today is a good day to stay inside.

In my neck of the woods we have 9 + ins on the ground depending on what area one is in...AND it is coming down again, and will until tomorrow night....So it is headed your way, when it gets tired of Ohio....I am staying in and looking at all the snow banks, drifts,etc.....

Rain all day, with the snow level at 3500 ft. I hate Climate Change.

Good news?  No rain today.  The sun is shining!
Bad news?  I am inside and won't be able to enjoy it.  Tomorrow we get.....MORE RAIN....and possibly snow/sleet/sneet/freezing rain for the next few days.

We've got sunshine, but temps in the low 20s, before the wind.  We've got maybe an inch of snow on the ground now.  The major snow is still coming too far south of us, but we should pick up another inch before sunrise (just in time to **** up the morning commute), then 2"-4" throughout the morning tomorrow.  One of the (pretty) young teachers that lives in my building was telling me this morning that she wants a snow day soon--she's sick of not having one.  Mid-Feb break is next week, but she wants more . . .  :thatsright:

It was 1 degree F. when I took the dogs out for a walk this morning at 5 a.m.

It was so cold that hair follicles were breaking off. Either that or I'm getting thin on top.  :p

45 and raining....but it's a darn cold 45!!

Started raining last night.....not really supposed to stop and turning to snow/sleet/black ice tomorrow. There's an awful lot of puddles out there to freeze over too.  :(

I've put sweats and heavy socks on and sitting wrapped up in a fleecy blanket and still can't warm up from sitting 4 hours in a cold room this morning.... :censored: Where is a darn hot flash when you need one?

At least 2 feet of snow on the ground...forecasting 7-18 inches more tonight into tomorrow.

School is already cancelled for the rest of the week.

I'll be taking a vacation day tomorrow since I have no desire to try to drive in.  My son's school never makes decisions about closing until the last minute so I won't know 'til tomorrow morning if he's home as well, but I'd bet $ on it closing!  Supposed to be another 18" on top of the 2 feet from the weekend -- M bought a couple of extra propane tanks from Sears just in case we lose power tomorrow. (we're in the purple area below)

I remember that my school never made the announcement until early morning.  I had to be up listening to the radio to find out, even if there was a foot of snow on the ground.  Nowadays , schools cancel even when a storm is even forecast, or for it being to hot or too cold.  :old:

Two of our cats get weird when bad weather is coming in......

Both are weirding out.

One gets on the stairs and tucks in and won't move....we have to step over her. She's in an "i'm not moving" position....half way up.

The other one usually crawls up on M's lap and won't move. He's not home right now and she has come into my office (where she rarely comes) and climbed up on my lap. She keeps giving me thse looks like...."you're the only one around to protect me so I'm here and not moving".

They don't normally act like this for just rain......

Our beagle does the same thing when thunder storms are headed towards us. She has to be by one of us constantly, even if just lying at our feet.

I didn't get around to putting last night's brisket (http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/paula-deen/texas-oven-roasted-beef-brisket-recipe/index.html) in the oven; I fixed it up and left it in the refrigerator overnight.  Should be good and flavored by now -- it just went into the oven.

Paid some bills and got my doctor appointment scheduled.  What a busy day. :-)
