Title: Superbowl Sunday
Post by: Chris on February 07, 2010, 10:08:07 AM
Finally back on line -- yay.

Some asshole neighbors disconnected my cable and moved it to their box, probably so they could watch the game today.  Assholes.  Anyway, the cable company did their job.  I've had nothing but bad luck since I moved here... I'll be glad to move somewhere else in a few months.

What's happening in your neck of the woods today?  Game preparations?  Nap time?  Fess up.

It's too bad that the cable companies don't typically prosecute cable thieves. It's a $14,000 fine and up to Ten years in jail that can be imposed IF they DO decide to prosecute. (something like that) None of the cable companies I ever worked for prosecuted the cable thieves.

Today, we're having a "Welcome Home" party for one of our Soldier members at the VFW and a Superbowl Party afterwards.

Got the new speakers in my truck and the stereo sounds a lot better. Got done just after dark last night.

The cable tech said if it happened again, they would press charges.  I'm reporting it to my apartment complex when their office opens tomorrow.

There's a dog show on Animal Planet right now... fun.

My neighbor is making chili. Told him I'd bring the beer. Whoops! Already had one. Well, I'll bring the case minus 1.  :-)

I'm making Bean dip with sharp cheddar cheese.
Mini Chimichangas with sour cream (main course)
Red Potato salad
If I'm still hungry, I can melt more sharp cheddar cheese over tortilla chips, not quite nachos, but good enough.
Pepsi
Iced Tea
Pecan pie.

Of course I also have jelly beans. Sliced ham (fully cooked and ready to eat). and pasta/veggie salad.
In the freezer I have Lasagna, More chimis, and a bag of ice.

Mannn, I have way too much food. Some of you guys need to come over and help me eat all of this.

Much more entertaining than those hamsters even if it looks like they cribbed the nose for the Sorento off the Honda Accord.

That red, one-eyed thing that looks like a marital aid is Muno from the Nick Jr. program Yo Gabba Gabba!  Just in case you were wondering . . . No, it's not one of my daughter's favorite shows (Thank God!).

Budweiser's commercials are rather flat.  They must have opened them too early.

Those pricks!
I used to work for cable TV in the 80's when I lived in Idaho Falls. Loved catching people stealing cable. I just cut it off and left a door hanger offering a "deal" to sign up for no installation fee!
Got some new customers that way.

As for football, the Superbowl is today?

Everyone's gone and the kitchen is all cleaned up!

I made baked pasta.....filled a big turkey roasting pan to the top (one of those big dark blue things with the white speckles). Penne, 4 lbs of meat -2 each of Italian sausage and ground chuck, 'shrooms, sauce, 2 pints of ricotta, shredded parmesan, onions, garlic, and about a pound of mozzarella.

Also did salad and garlic toast.

Runnin' Buddy did shrimp with remoulade sauce and parmesan artichoke dip.

It ended up being just M and I, Runnin' Buddy and J, my son, their son, his roommate, and two of the kids' married friends.

Let me tell you how those kids can eat!!!! I ended up giving both of the married couples tupperware containers of pasta, and the boys took one back to MTSU with them. I only have 1 container left !!!

One of the married guys has been best buds with my son for 17 years! I've only seen him once or twice when T's been home, in the last 7 years. It was kind of funny...all 5 boys kept asking what they could do to help...even emptying the trash a couple of times and rinsing the dishes.....the two wives didn't even ask if they could do anything. ::)

Only bad thing that happened was I emptied two bags of crackers into a basket...and laid the plastic bags on the counter.....on top of two votive candles. I caught them as they were starting to flame up. Melting plastic does not do well on thumb. I have a wicked blister on my left thumb.  :bawl:  At least it didn't go under my thumbnail....or wreck my new manicure.  :uhsure:

Sounds like you had a nice time except for the thumb and all the hard work.

We did!

Runnin' Buddy and I decided that this was the easiest Super Bowl we have ever done. I made the pasta this afternoon, so all I had to do was stick it in the oven.

RB and I even sat down and watched most of the game....that was a first in forever.

We've kind of become a family....M and J park themselves in front of the tv and RB and I are conjuring in the kitchen area.  And since it was the boys' friends...I didn't feel like I had to "entertain" them like I would have if some of our other friends have been here.
