Pelosi: No Hope For Public Option At This Time
The public option already died once. Today it died again.
House progressives have been trying to use the health care stalemate to revive the public option. Almost 100 have signed a letter urging Congressional leaders to include a public option in a separate bill, which could in theory pass the Senate with a simple majority of votes. If that passed, it could be included as part of comprehensive legislation. But on a conference call today, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi put a second set of nails in the public option's coffin--saying it would not be part of any grand bargain to push ahead with health. And in so doing, she took a veiled swipe at the White House for not standing enthusiastically behind the proposal.
"The Senate never supported the public option," Pelosi said.
There was talk that there would be 51 votes for it, but it never passed on the floor of the Senate. It did pass in the House and, of course, I think it would be the way to go. But it isn't the way that the Senate went. And so I think that what you might see coming out of some reconciliation would be those areas of agreement that all three--the White House, the Senate and the House--had already agreed to...more than two weeks ago.

11. I hate Harry, too. I just don't know how we got stuck with such spineless weasels.
But if Nancy had any backbone, she'd be workin' it. She'd make the deals, she'd talk to the right people. She wouldn't be saying it's dead, she'd be calling them all out and putting on some pressure. You don't come out and pronounce the patient dead while there are still surgeons working.

17. You're right...the Senate being assholes isn't her fault.
But it just seems to be a total lack of leadership. I lashed out when I saw Nancy's name, when I should have lashed out at Harry.
Either way, we don't have a public option.

There is almost no support for the public option or anything else when the details are spelled out about what it entails.

And for them to continually say "the public is on our side" shows they do not ever read a paper, or polls, or a mainstream news source. Willfully ignorant, and continuing to not post poll links.
OT and BTW: I posted a story the other day, naming a certain The Straight Story. It occurred to me that was actually inspired by OffWithTheirHeads. Sorry. It's easy to get these DUmmies confused. They're both snivelling, smarmy girlies. The resident Oh Dears.

Yeah, but that was a great story, madam.
The primitives, especially the unterprimitiven, the faceless lynch mob, the amorphous blob, which are 99% of the inhabitants of Skins's island, are difficult to tell apart at times.
That's why in my own "topics started," I use the scarlet letters to identify the PoP; it's not important for anybody else to go through the time and trouble, but I'm happy to do it as a public service.

You do know that Obama will have to create a government department and appoint a Czar for that, don't you. Not to mention 200,000 new federal employee's to run it, a fleet of new cars, an office in every county, at least 6 new airplanes and issue a no-competition bid for razor blades.

One government giveaway program I've always favored is the free distribution of razor blades to the primitives.

No problem there, an ex con who converted to Islam was caught in NY when he came to a prison to minister to his people. He had been hired by the prison for $49,000 a year to minister to his inmates.
On going through the security check point the guards--like new hire that knew no better or not been bribed yet, picked up metal in his carry on case. A pair of scissors and a bunch of injectable razor blades.
HIMMMMMMM Now why would a man of the cloth paid by the state walk into a prison with 10-15 double edged razor blades. What were the scissors for.?
Come to find out the person who hired him for a state job is also an ex con, so how did his boss get his job.?

For the smartest people on the planet they seem to have a hard time coming to the conclusion that if the people were with them they'd have the votes and no "deals" would be necessary. Hell, if it was that popular every RHINO in congress would be tripping all over him/herself to sign on the dotted line.
