AC/DC Frontman Says Bono's Good Deeds Are Cheap
For a man who is barely coherent when he sings, Brian Johnson of AC/DC is making himself perfectly clear when it comes to outspoken do-gooders like Bono and Bob Geldof.
"When I was a working man I didn't want to go to a concert for some bastard to talk down to me that I should be thinking of some kid in Africa," he bluntly told the Herald Sun in Australia.
To be fair, Johnson is not railing against helping the less fortunate, it's the grand gestures like worldwide benefit concerts and glittery telethons that grate on him.
"I'm sorry mate, do it yourself, spend some of your own money and get it done," he added. "It just makes me angry. I become all tyrannical."
Johnson insisted he gives on occasion but there's one big difference between him and Bono: "I don't tell everybody I'm doing it," and better yet, "I don't tell everybody they should give money -- they can't afford it.
AC/DC famously turned down a slot at 1985's Live Aid, which he squarely calls a failure.
"Bob Geldof is a canny lad. He did what he thought was right at the time but it didn't work," he said, referring to the man behind Live Aid. "The money didn't go to poor people. It makes me mad when people try to use politics or charity for publicity."

No doubt about it, Live Aid was a failure, sadly. I think it is much easier for individuals to do a lot more good doing individual things. Huge grand gestures don't seem to work out all that often.

"I'm sorry mate, do it yourself, spend some of your own money and get it done,"
Exactly right. If each of these multi-millionaires would each give a million, instead of singing a song or two, they'd raise a lot more. Self-righteous hypocrites.

I  AC/DC.
The one thing I can say about the moonbatty Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie. They ALWAYS put their money where their mouth is. I respect that.

I wonder if we will ever hear how much money the Haiti relief concert raised?

Not until 20 years from now, when it comes up in a Trivial Persuit question.

So we still have a few years to wait for the Tsunami Relief concert information?

Yup. It'll probably be buried under the figures for illegal campaign funds laundered through the 'Ø8 Øbummer campaign.

The reason *WE* give is to help those in need, not to publicly inflate our already bloated egos.
Bono is a self promoting prick. I once saw that ass on the Tonight Show telling Americans they can easily give 25% of their income to _HIS_ AIDS circus show in Africa because we are so rich compared to those living in Africa.
Of course all he gives is his face - not a dime from his pocket. Then we find out later he moved to another country to AVOID paying high taxes that support socialist programs for the poor in his own nation.
That is why I always give anonymously, my own ego be damned.
I do quite a bit of computer work for friends, co-workers, family, and friends of friends, and some people I barely know from church and work etc.
They ALWAYS offer to pay me after the fact which I always refuse. I always tell them that if they want to give something, then next time they see the red kettle or are in church, drop whatever THEY feel is appropriate into the plate and do it anonymously. The good Lord blessed me with a skill and love of it and if I can freely help someone out with it, then my skill is justified.
You would not believe the tears I sometimes get from people when I say this to them.

So if I took a $20 bill out of Angelina's wallet and stuff it down my pants...

...and asked her to take it back...with her lips...

It really bugs me how the superrich leftists are lauded by the media for showing up at a fundraiser and for caring even if they give nothing to the cause but their presence.

And some of them are reimbursed their travel from the funds raised.
