CBSNEWS anchorwoman and 60 MINUTES contributor Katie Couric faces a dramatic pay cut at the network, insiders tell the DRUDGE REPORT.
CBS boss Les Moonves is determined to save money and trim expenses -- from top to bottom -- at the former crown jewel of broadcasting.
Couric, the highest paid TV news personality in history, commands over $14 million a year, plus bumps for non-EVENING NEWS appearances.
But her salary is now in the direct line of fire, network insiders explain, and a populist backlash against Couric's cash is said to be forming inside the newsroom. ...

Awwww. Bless her heart... :-)

It's amazing how little $14 million will buy these days.

i say we start taking bets on the lamestream's race to collapse. i got my money on NBC. thought maybe Couric could raise a fuss and bring down CBS

Katie will be the first to tell you that $14 million won't buy her happiness. But it sure as hell helps! (Maybe the gold-plated Ben-wa balls help with the Happiness Factor. That's prolly what she needs to sit through an entire See Bee Ess broadcast of Liberal Lameness.)
:lmao:

Isn't she under a contract that guarantees her salary? I can see CBS trying to renegotiate but they couldn't arbitrarily cut her salary.

I would think they could cut her salary if her contract says they can. See Bee Ess may be a liberal cesspool, but they've got smart attorneys.

Most television talent contracts are tied to both program and network ratings, for a large portion of the compensation package......if the person's show flops, or the networks ratings go down the toilet, the compensation can, and will be substantially reduced.

It just happens that I'm now reading a book, *Prime Times Bad Times* by Ed Joyce, once President of CBS TV News. The book was written in the late 80s, so I thought it might be old hat. But not so. It's VERY relevent to todays times....Some things just stay stuck.

$15M for a news reader. How do they have any money left for "collecting" news? Or do they just use Google? Maybe they just read the DNC press releases.

That's the trouble with tiny violins, they are so hard to find when you want one. :lmao:

That's what they get for turning news readers into *stars* whose salaries are sky high.

Don't forget that Fox News has their own stars that get high salaries. Oh wait, they also get high ratings that translate to high ad dollars. Never mind. :rotf:

And yet, Sarah Palin is doing just fine. Go figure! :lmao:

Oh where oh where can a woman her age find a good paying job in this Bush recession........oh yeah, I forgot, the Obama administration always has an opening for stupid old white wymins.

Hi,
I lived in Austin, TX for a few years and Rather had a home there. It was amazing, most of the people there really hated him because of his arrogance and way he treated people. We had a boat on Lake Travis would see him at one of the water front restaurants regularly and basically no one had much to do with him. Actually Dennis Rodman was playing for the San Antonio Spurs and he would draw some attention, but not Rather. And that was before he became a famous tattooed wonder.
He was actually quite a laid back guy. Had a cool Cigarette boat that was pink and black and had a topless woman painted on the bow. He had a tow truck and trailer painted to match and it was really neat.
As far as Couric goes, I hear Clinton is looking for a replacement Monica....
regards,

At $14 mil/year, she'll have to furnish her own kneepads....

How far will $14 million a year get you living in New York City?
I hear she invests heavily in boy toys like the guy she took to Obama's State Dinner that is 17 years younger than she is.

A cougar she ain't, though she appears to be quite the dancer. Maybe poles are in her future. She, Willard Scott, Matt Lauer, and Bryant Gumbel oughta have a reunion and count their gray hairs.
