Was the "Landrieu phone caper case" really a bug retrieval mission than planting one???
I think so, it seems like the old, one con distracts and the other con liberates the object of interest.
This may already be leading back to Justice Dept lawyers. What did they know and when did they know it????
If Sen Landrieu resigns soon I would not be suprised.
Oh, yeah...because the truth can't be easy.

2. Why would they put these right wing hacks in charge of it?
Makes no sense. Besides I'm sure they wouldn't have arrested them if it were the case.

3. The DOJ has professionals plant bugs
No way these ****s were retrieving anything from Landrieu's office involving the DOJ.

12. Which would be a much larger Federal offense bordering on political terrorism. No?
Republicans illegally recording their opponents phone conversations?
The GOP would have to either condemn or approve of the methods. If the approved them then they would be screwed.
If they condemned them then they would have to enforce the law.
If they (GOP/O'Keffe) had everybody on tape, or if there was the threat of such a thing, I would bet you that congress would move pretty fast to protect itself by shutting anybody down if they were to use illegally obtained recordings.
What is the federal policy/laws regarding anybody or any news outlet that was to use illegally obtained recordings?
Even if these knuckle heads had that ability they would be writing their memoirs from a federal penitentiary for decades to come...as well as anybody that helped them do it.
I don't believe that the GOP would want that hung around their collective heads since this is an election year. That would be very bad for them.

13. You seem naive that for the previous 8 yrs the WH taped everyone. Cheney's basement was in full
operation. Information is Power and the puppets dance.

15. My feeling is it was either a poorly planned attempt at sabotage or a poorly planned reconnaisance
mission - with the intention of coming back later and planting a bug or committing an act of sabotage once they had established some "bonafides" with the staff as "telephone repair men" and scoped out the telephone closet. However I really think it was the former - they actually thought they could waltz into a Federal building and pull off a rat**** operation on Sen. Landrieu and get away with it.
One DA has recused himself from the case already...
The story will get bigger whent he truth comes out.

The ACORN kid, who got arrested in this, was on Hannity last night.
He couldn't answer a lot of Hannity's questions because the investigation is still on-going.
What he did say....was that they (the kids) were taping everything from the time they entered Landrieu's office and that the tapes had been turned over to the DA's office.
He said their purpose was not to tap the phones, but to determine if the phones were or were not working, as Landrieu has been publicly saying that either her office phones were not "ringing off the hook" regarding her deal on the health care bill or that the phones were not working properly.
The kid said they (the kids) were just trying to prove that the phones were working just fine.....and that the tapes proved it.
It will be interesting to see what happens.
It could also be, that this kid has just shot any credibility he had right out the window by breaking the law.
-
From what I've understood, their only crime was to enter the offices under false pretenses which might include trespassing. They didn't do anything to alter or interfere with the phone system, but did ask a lot of questions about how well the phones worked and if calls were getting through.
-
As I said before, OKeefe is going to FU the donks up with this caper. Our local paper finally gave some print to the ACORN child prostitution ring because of this. My prediction is it is quietly dropped out of the legal system and not one note in the MSM acknowledging it ever happened.
-
I suspect that the reason the MSM ran so hard with this story when it first broke is that they thought it would discredit O'Keefe completely, which would resolve the ACORN issues. Now that they realize that he may have been stupid, but he most likely did not break any federal laws, they want it to disappear.

That's kind of what I don't understand.
Anybody can apparently walk into a Congress-person's office. You don't have to have an appointment....at least one doesn't at Landrieu's office.
Unless they went beyond a public area .... how is it trespassing?
I think it's the "false pretenses" thing that may get them....but if they didn't commit a crime otherwise....can they still be charged?
There's also something about the fact that it was a federal building.
I know when I go down to the one here, I am asked as I go through security...what office am I going to. However, they haven't ever asked me why I am going to a specific office.
IF the kids were asked where they were going....and they said Landrieu's office....but were not asked why they were going there.....did they actually commit a crime?

I must have missed something. Exactly what law was broken? From what I hear it was recrded on his cell phone, which is definitely not against the law. I don't think they have been charged with anything except tresspass for not leaving when asked.

IIRC, they were in there after normal business hours. I could be wrong.

DUmmie theory is missing something... there were no bugs.

Hmmmmm.....guess I better get off my lazy butt and do some research instead of listening to he said, she said.

On Hannity the other night Bob Beckel (I can't stand that puke) was absolutely RABID about O'Keefe and Giles. He was crude about Giles, why I don't understand. Saying that she made a perfect hooker and making personal attacks. Obviously the reason Beckel is so mad at O’Keefe (and Giles, because he was absolutely insane about Giles as well) is because of the ACORN thing. The left can not STAND the fact that ACORN was exposed. You would think if they cared anything about honesty and doing the right thing they would run, not walk, away from ACORN. Anyway, I don't know what they have to worry about, Obama put them back in his new budget so they will be back to work, stealing elections and doing their dastardly deeds.
Here is Giles comment on the whole thing: LINK (http://biggovernment.com/2010/02/02/once-again-james-okeefe-strips-away-the-msms-mask-of-neutrality-revealing-the-bias-below/)
