... WIND ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 7 AM EST FRIDAY...

A WIND ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 7 AM EST FRIDAY.

WEST WINDS 20 TO 30 MPH WITH GUSTS UP TO 50 MPH WILL DEVELOP BEHIND AN ARCTIC COLD FRONT TONIGHT. IT WILL REMAIN BLUSTERY ON FRIDAY WITH WIND GUSTS TO 40 MPH CONTINUING THROUGH MOST OF THE DAY.

A WIND ADVISORY MEANS THAT WIND GUSTS OF 45 MPH OR HIGHER ARE EXPECTED. WINDS THIS STRONG CAN MAKE DRIVING DIFFICULT... ESPECIALLY FOR HIGH PROFILE VEHICLES. USE EXTRA CAUTION.

=================================

But I'm OFF as of 3 AM.  No coming in tomorrow night!!!  Good thing, too.  Gonna be FREAKIN COLD, and when you figure in the WC, it's -10 with wind chill this morning, and -20 tomorrow.  Good weekend to catch up on inside stuff, do a couple extra loads of laundry, etc.

Cold again this morning, but no precipitation expected until early next week.  Nothing above freezing until next week either.  :censored:  Off to work I go.

It's low-single digits now here, with a high of 13 (great number, BTW) expected.  Winds at 20-25 mph sustained, with gusts up to 40 mph.  Wind chills to be -15.  Decent weather. :-)

Oh--on a sidebar.  I got my 3-month AA coin last night.  Also was the featured speaker at a meeting for the first time.  Scary, but I had to do it.  I chair a meeting in two weeks.

Congrats on the 3 months, BSS.

I'm headed off for a 3 day weekend at one of the kid's places.  Have grandkids there.  Weather seems to be clear, so I'm looking forward to the drive, too.

Have a good one!

Congratulations BlueState!

I don't know why, but this week has felt really long.  I'm so glad that it is Friday.  No exciting weather today.  High in the 50's with a chance of rain.

Temperature 12 degrees and wind roared about the place all night.

Sun is out and most snow gone for now.    Furnance is working very hard to keep house at 70 degrees,

Not a good night for my critters, they ALL tried to to climb under the covers on the bed, the wind scared them.

My eldest dog MR, Fug don't look too good, he has to be at least 18 years old, he just lays about sleeping most days.

Me, I am just waiting to join a club for handi capped people to go out Kayaking in the spring---will it ever get here.?

The tree and electrical line icing wasn't that bad here. We've got mostly sleet and snow. SW and SC OK have massive electrical outages.

Gonna hang here today, watch the news coverage and make a big meal for lunch. I'll venture out into this mess tomorrow.

Way to go BSS!

Lots of rain.  No ice, the temp is hovering in the Mid 30's.  I tell ya, if it had been colder, Big D woulda been shut down with all the wet we have had for the last 24 hours.  Fortunately, that didn't happen.

Should dry up tonight, and sunny and cold weekend.  And, I don't have to go to work on Monday.  WOOHOO!

------------

Southern Nevada will see calm winds, sunshine and a high of about 64. This will continue through next week.

I work later today, from about 2 to 10....I like working that shift, as I can get alot done the last hour when we are not so busy with customers. We have been slammed at work, which results in job security. Our sales continue to grow.

Waiting on the rain/sleet/snow to show up. So far there's been nothing....not a drop or a flake. But everyone is closing their doors in expectation-including several city/county courts and all the kids are out of school including several community colleges. All the local channels have been interrupting for weather updates. Right now the local ABC channel is doing a half hour "special weather broadcast".... :mental:

No reports to do, so will be finishing up some laundry and I think I'm going to make some sloppy joes for dinner. Haven't had them all winter...

Congrats, man.  Keep it up!

Currently 14 degrees at noon, 30 mph winds, gusts over 40.  I love New Hampshire when I can't even get my sliding door open to let the dog out.  And springtime is going to be fun, clearing out all the branches/twigs/crap.  Remind me why I did all that yardwork last fall, please?

I'm picking up a six month coin in a couple weeks.  This is my second time around unfortunately.  Went about 2 1/2 yrs the last time and got pissed because things didn't seem that much better.   Found out the hard way they could get worse.   I've been the speaker at meetings about 3 times now.  None this time.  Funny how what your going to say always sounds better in your head than when it comes out.  I just got a great idea.  I'm going to use a teleprompter next time.  :-)

It started here about an hour ago.

At first it just flakes and melting as it hit the ground.

It's been much heavier the last 15 minutes. It isn't melting like it was.

It's still melting on the walkways and drive.....sticking everywhere else. Which means it's going to be slicker than owl shit under the snow.... :(

Last time we had this type of forecast and system....was in 1993.

We ended up with 24 inches on the ground.

Not good for a place with very few snow plows......

NWS is now saying up to 15 inches by the time it quits tomorrow sometime.  :o :o :o They are comparing it to the Snow of '93. The good thing is we didn't get rain here first that turned to ice. Hopefully because of that the trees won't collapse under the weight of the snow....

TV just showed Chattanooga....they were to only get rain, maybe some sleet. They are now getting sleet/snow.
The temps didn't warm up as expected.

Weather report is constantly changing.....

Southwest of us 60 miles on I75...was supposed to get only rain, maybe some freezing rain.....they got the freezing rain and have approximately 5 inches of SNOW already!!! The interstate is shut down going south due to accidents.

The weather guy just said that it's possible that we will get snow the rest of the evening...then it will turn to freezing rain for a while and go back to snow towards morning....this is to continue through to late afternoon tomorrow.

That will be a bad thing.

I don't think they really know what the heck the weather's going to do......so far the only thing they have gotten totally right is that it's going to snow.

Not their fault....just the typical unpredictability of the valley area of East Tennessee...

Weather bug says with wind gusts it could get down to -24 tonight.

People are out searching for the homeless, got to get them inside tonight.

Wind is so strong some of my shingles are flapping about, not a good night for a dog to be outside.

Quite a few Churches have open their doors to the homeless, when you consider there are children living in cars, vans and tents we have to save them even just for tonight.

Good Christian people are cooking hot meals for them, brewing coffee and hot tea.

So what are the Atheists doing.?    I hear a Temple in Manchester has opened its doors to the non Muslim, and the Jewish Temples are open.

there are times we can all get together regardless of faith to save a life.

Holy Fudd!  It doesn't look like a lot of snow until you have to scrape it off your car!  That took forever.  Driving home was uneventful other than having to pass a PT Cruiser doing 20mph.  My car handled pretty well in the snow as long as I stayed off the throttle.  If this weather system heads straight north, we's screwed.  Nobody will show up for work until Thursday.

I sure picked a lousy weekend to take off... nearly everyone has called out of work tonight and tomorrow.  It's going to be busy, busy unless someone decides to come into work and that won't be me.  I haven't had more than a day off of work at a time since 2007 and I want some rest, dammit.

Got lucky here.  And I will take it.  The rain came before the cold.  Be careful all y'all.  Since our weather drama ended up not being much drama, they called a weather dude in Tulsa.  The interviewers said "What are they doing in the airports up there?"  Answer:  "They are closed."  The end, not much illustration, but really, what do you need?

Snow started hitting central NC around 8PM, got about 2 inches now.  Snow's supposed to be constant throughout the night and most of the morning then turn to sleet for a few more hours.  I just love global warming.

The roads here are a couple inches of packed snow and ice.  Not too terrible... I was able to drive home with no problems, but I hope they're cleared soon enough.  It's probably stopped precipitating here for a few days.

Things are getting really bad here.

We had snow, that switched over to rain about 8:30 for about 15 minutes....then went back to snow....then went to sleet for about an hour. It was hitting the family room window so hard it sounded like someone was throwing tiny pebbles against it. By 11 it was back to heavy snow. At 11 they said to expect an inch or more here in the valley through the night.

We have DirectTV and since about 10:30 only getting a few channels...and some are intermittently working. The local ABC channel has been out for some time. I know it worked at 10 but by 10:30, Direct had a thing that said we know this channel is not working, do not call. I have no Fox News.... :bawl: :bawl: :bawl:

Decided to do a bit more laundry just in case we lose power.

Son walked up to the neighborhood bar ....it's about a mile. Several of his buddies are there and they are shooting pool....supposedly the place is closing early. He's supposed to work tomorrow....but who knows.

Interstate 40 is shut down west of here, kind of over near where Ree lives I think. Hope she's ok. I75 north of here up to Kentucky is pretty wicked from north of the 40/75 junction....which is about 10 minutes from me.

I hate to gripe...but geesh....couldn't we have just had the snow?

Our cable went out at work.  We managed to keep our internet connection, but the TV's all went out.

Internet is AT&T DSL and it's ok for now. The electrical and phone lines are buried in the subdivision, but they aren't out along the road. We're a two street subdivision and we live almost to the end of the longer one....with a steep hill and two smaller ones between our drive and the road. The subdivision owns the streets...so we have no hope of salt trucks in here.

If the trees start falling out on the road, we're screwed. The road outside our subdivision is really curvy and it's a half mile up to the main road. The main road will see salt trucks, but not snow plows. If trees fall on the road, hard telling when we will get out....it's at best a tertiary road, so there are lots of other areas that will see salt trucks before us.

I can hear the sleet hitting the heat pumps... :(

Well shit....tv's gone.

Can't get a satelite signal.

That means someone is going to be on a ladder trying to get the ice/snow off of the satelite dish in the morning.

Sounds like it's ice coming down again... :(

Ummmm, they DO make heaters for those satellite dishes......... that would negate your snow/ ice problem.......

This was our street during the ice storm from a couple of years ago in December.

That looks familiar.  I had to drive into work that day, only to be told later that morning to go home.  It stopped, the sun came out, and warmed up to about 40 degrees that afternoon, which meant all the ice started showering down in HUGE chunks.  I actually took my hard hat out to the end of the drive so I wouldn't get clocked with a chunk of ice.

It was nice and cold yesterday, so Kristin and I decided to go to a hockey game and be even colder. Stars beat the Avs 3-2.

Stars?  Avalanche?  I thought you said you went to a hockey game!

Call me when you play an "Original Six" team.
