A routine trip to the grocery store became a terrifying ordeal for a woman in Dallas' upscale Preston Hollow neighborhood.
A police report says she had just finished her shopping at the Whole Foods market at the corner of Preston Rd. and Forest Ln. around 6:30 p.m. Monday when a man approached her in the parking lot.
The stranger attacked the victim as she was putting away her grocery cart, police say. He knocked her down and kept punching her in the face until she gave up the imitation diamond necklace and $400 designer glasses she wore.
But the real prize he wanted was her wedding ring: a seven and a half carat diamond ring worth $90,000.
After he took all the items, the suspect left the North Dallas parking lot in a four-door white car.
Police are still investigating the crime.

Uh, you know what's really kind of trippy? I was at that store. On that night. Left about somewhere around 6:00. Now, there is nothing about me that is flashy or looks like money. I drive a Saturn and don't wear any jewelry, aside from some silver earrings. And, you certainly don't need sunglasses at that time of night right now.
And another thing, that parking lot is really big, and has a lot of traffic in it at that time, A LOT. And all the cart turn-in thingys are in the first quarter of the lot, closest to the store. How could anyone NOT see that?
Trippy.

Assuming they could find a fence stupid enough to buy a rock that hot. It's not like there are a dozen 7½ carat rocks in every pawn shop in town.

I would expect them to have outdoor security cams like Wal-Mart usually has.

For the proletariat? Vlad L. wouldn't approve and Joe S. had the power shut off.
It sucks to be poor, but if that's all there is........

I can't imagine that there aren't. I mean, you know the area, there is some serious $$ there.

Good point. I would be shocked if there isn't

Local news says one man arrested and one other man sought.
Arrested man is an ex-con. What a shock.

The parking lot has a sky cop in it now. But they did have security cameras. Did you see that lady on the TV? She was beat up bad. Turns out she was parked on the edge of the pking lot, by the street, not near the store.

Preston Hollow? Boy howdy...the Highland Park set is going to be up in arms toward the Dallas PD now.

I KNOW!
I couldn't believe it myself. The WF on Coit in Richardson is in a much worse neighborhood. I would have expected it there. Not in Plano either, those guys don't mess around.
Now they have a Sky Cop thing planted right where the lady parked.
It has caused quite a ruckus, to say the least.

Went to WalMart last week with the Brother-in-law and he parked right next to the "skycop" I swear the thing is empty half the time.
