I volunteered 20 years years of my life in defense of this great country we have. Say what you want but the US is the best place to live, bar none. A friend of mine sent me a few comments that hit really close to home when it comes to what we have become. I am not sure who the author is. The one thing is that after reading them I became fighting mad and these days it take a great deal more than it used to to get me to the point of seeing red, this did it for me.
1 **You cannot legislate the poor into prosperity by legislating the wealthy out of prosperity.
2 **What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving.
3 **The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else.
4 **When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them,
and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they
work for, that my dear friend, is the beginning of the end of any nation.
5 **You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it.......
Then I saw this photo, my head exploded at this point. For the first time I found myself questioning my 20 years of service. Was it worth it?

I served as well and I can say that I pretty much have replaced every politicians first name with d*mn and the end of my sentence with I hope they burn in h*11. Needless to say, I share your sentiment. Yet to the point of the picture, that in of itself does not make me angry. It actually makes me become more aware of what may come. I have never considered Obama a "stable" individual. His ego is that of self made messiah such as leader of history that come to my mind like Mao, Stalin, Hitler.
Inside of the "insurgent" world, and I consider Obama an "insurgent", ego and confidence are powerful tools. One of the major issues in dealing with professionals is that while they also have egos, hey all men do right, its tempered with discipline and training. Obama has never really officially worked a job in the public sector. Everything he has has been given to him by someone, including the presidency. Now with the election in Mass after a year long run in with the Tea Party movement and town halls, his ego has finally taken a massive blow.
Politicians build their careers by the legislation they present and pass. Presidents live and die by them. This morning Obama woke up and looked into the mirror and saw the realization that he could actually see his presidency as a complete failure and mark his political death. Here is the problem, his ego.
In terms of insurgents, when untrained and undisciplined, you build their confidence when they achieve either by their own efforts or you allowing them to have small victories. You watch their ego grow and they become emboldened. You set the snare watching them walk confidently into their deaths as you drop the blade onto them. In the terms of Obama, this could create one of two things. Either a madman that will lose his mind, or he will desire to disappear off the face of the earth. At his pinnacle he has failed or sees the potential to fail. So he will either attempt to salvage and become weaker then impotent, or turn tyrant. Each choice has its pitfalls.
As an impotent leader the extreme left would put a mark on his head, perhaps literally. As a tyrant he would be run out of office and the Democratic party destroyed for perhaps generations.

Both of you are right. Bondai, I served as the moderator for a board that was dedicated to musical stuff--I was the moderator of a board on Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band. I also was a mod for their "Political Forum." We had kids post--yes, they were in their early teens--that didn't like, for example, the military and President Bush--so thney were against all sorts of military spending. Things like pay raises. I went absolutely ****ing ballistic. This was after the al Qaida attacks of 9/11/01. They were being fed bullshit by their teachers and their parents. I actually had to be "talked down" by the other mod of that forum, who was a liberal--but he respected my service and acted as the go-between of sorts. It took me a long time before I could say anything remotely near sane to said teenaged girl. I took the Fifth a lot when I had to deal with said misguided soul. Someday, she may owe her life to the actions of someone in uniform. I think that she'll get it then.
Javelin, I think that the Obamessiah may have been visited by the "Ghost of Political Failure," but I don't think he's going to take any heed. As you posted near the end of your third paragraph, it's his ego that is his worst enemy. Will he realize the error of his ways in order to salvage his presidency? I think that he'll see it, but his arrogance won't allow him to deviate from his Plan. (I capitalize that word because the Soviets used to, too.) Because he can't see that he really is pissing off the American people, he will continue to think, "I can do whatever I want. The American people will see the wisdom of My Plan." And he won't "get it" until 1 PM on January 20th, 2013, after the next President is sworn in.
I saw something on RedState yesterday to the effect that the Obamessiah is calling the nation "ungovernable." A lot of commentators on the Left are also saying that (chiefly because of the Senate fillibuster). When the Left says that the nation is "ungovernable," what they're really saying is that "the citizens are resisting socialism, and we don't like that." When they try to react to this feeling of "ungovernability," it's time to add to one's store of guns and ammo (actually, well before that). The Left will come down hard to attempt to force their way through.
Did Scott Brown's election derail this? It looks as if some saner heads in the Democrat Party are starting to be heard. Whether or not those saner Dems will be heeded is another story.

That paragraph above really peeked my interest Blue. The term used, "ungovernable", has a lot of weight that goes with it. If the real democrats of the "Progressive" party heed the call from Mass and back down it could spark turmoil. The problem comes from who elected Obama more so than Obama himself. Ungovernable denotes that people no longer needing to be governed but rather subdued. In other words its not a matter of We the People being able to make choices, its a matter of they do not believe we should be allowed to make choices. According to the founding of this nation, We the People are not the governed but rather the governors of oneself within our journey for life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. The whole concept of ungovernable, in my mind speaks of revolution against society in of itself.
When I saw work dealing with terrorists, the acts they commit come from a much deeper issue. For example in the Philippines the Abu Sayeff recruit from very poor villages and it is seen as the only way out of poverty. The "education" from the region gears them or prepares them for what they will do. When I use the word education I speak of more than simply a school setting but also from community, family and environmental factors. The people within this region are deemed ungovernable for they are actually ruled by not only the Abu Sayeff but also the political families that contend for power within the region. Families will actually at times declare war on each other in attempt to wrest the power from another family as if it is a Monarchy of sorts. In fact, this is taking place there at this present time. While the Philippines was intended to also be a Republic they have devolved through constant corruption into this mess that seems to come from hell.
When we compare this to what we see in the United States, there are scary similarities. Our education system also prepares children in a similar way and often enough the recruitment into the "Progressive" movement takes place in more impoverished sections of the nation as well as within the education system. When the curtain was removed from the stage and people began to understand how SEIU, Acorn, The Apollo Alliance and so forth work and how they are all interconnected, they only began to understand the structure rather than the implications. When an ideology is so deeply ingrained within a system and that system attempts to constrain the society, if the society does not go along with the system, revolt begins.
If Obama refuses to make a move, they will attempt to force his hand. If he still refuses, they may attempt to dispose of him and attempt a forced move on society from all facets that they control even if by force. If Obama does make his move it will begin the revolt from society. I have seen this played out overseas within other political arenas. I cannot recall a time within my lifetime that the United States has faced such a similar blatant threat as what is taking place now. It is far more than two political parties, its a battle for the soul of the American people.

Here's the article that RedState had linked to, with the quotes from Lord Zero.
Obama: Filbuster Making Nation Ungovernable »
BY KENNETH R. BAZINET
President Obama said today he is “very frustrated†by the repeated use of the filibuster to try to block almost every piece of legislation before the U.S. Senate, warning that the political maneuver is threatening America’s competitiveness.
“As somebody who served in the Senate, who values the traditions of the Senate, who thinks that institution has been the world’s greatest deliberative body, to see the filibuster rule, which imposes a 60-vote supermajority on legislation - to see that invoked on every single piece of legislation, during the course of this year, is unheard of,†Obama said in an interview with the PBS NewsHour.
“So I think that if this pattern continues, you’re going to see an inability on the part of America to deal with big problems in a very competitive world, and other countries are going to start running circles around us. We’re going to have to return to some sense that governance is more important than politics inside the Senate. We’re not there right now,†Obama said.
Obama noted that Republicans have drifted away from how even the father of the modern conservative movement, President Ronald Reagan, did business. Reagan cut many a deal with legendary liberal House Speaker Tip O’Neill, who managed to keep the Democrat-driven social safety net intact during the era of Reaganomics.
“I mean, if you look historically back in the ’50s, the ’60s, the ’70s, the ’80s - even when there was sharp political disagreements, when the Democrats were in control for example and Ronald Reagan was President - you didn’t see even routine items subject to the 60-vote rule,†Obama said.

I get the impression that Lord Zero doesn't think much of opposition politics when he's not on the blocking side.
