Its Tax Time again....Do you get a refund? We don't so we don't get in a hurry
Most of my family gets huge refunds but we haven't gotten a refund in over 14 years. We usually owe state but get about the same amount back from Federal so for us it is a wash.
Many people get excited about their refund and all the extra money they get. We usually come out even no gain, no loss. Because of that we usually try to have them done by sometime in March.
My Sister has already gotten hers done and is waiting on her refund.
Did she mention her sister was poor again ?

20. earned income credit?
It you don't make much $$ and have children especially, this can be a big boost whether you paid in or not.
Everyone should check it out if they haven't already.

5. I don't know how the head of household or child tax credit works
and I think that is how they get more money.
Ours is almost always a wash so it really doesnt' matter to us. Just one more thing to do. No biggie to us, but my younger sister gets all excited about it.
Yes, you're rich and your sister is poor. Feel better now ? Is that Christian Pam ?

24. I did not know you had to pay taxes on UI
I have been fortunate enough to have never been on UI. I don't think I would even know the first steps.
I will pray that things work out for you
You could very well be on UI if someone were to send your posts to your principal. :-)

33. This is GD, right?
Thought I was in the lounge for a minute, or had stumbled onto some random online journal.
This originally posted in GD. It was moved to the lounge.

40. hubby was under the impression that house interest didn't count anymore
hum, that would be nice
I feel sorry for hubby.

The house doesn't count anymore? for the tax credit?
how would that be nice?
Or does it not count as a house? therefor not taxed?

She isn't getting anything back, because her sister is getting it. Pam paid in, but her sister didn't, and ironically, they call this "earned" income credit, when they end up not even paying anything in taxes. What a scam.
EIC is the biggest form of income redistribution we've got going, and it's a bigger form of welfare than food stamps and "public assistance" is.
EIC is now at the tune of up to $5k. The more kids you squeeze out, the more you get (up to 3 kids, but I am sure that will change under this administration). It pays to be unsuccessful in this country. I had no idea until just a week ago or so how much people got rewarded for making poor choices.
Incidentally, EIC has proliferated under many Republicans as well (including Reagan), and it was a Nixon idea.

I absolutely hate listening to people discuss tax refunds. I especially hate listening to DUmmies discuss tax refunds.
Many people get excited about their refund and all the extra money they get. We usually come out even no gain, no loss.
:argh:
Extra money? If you actually got "extra money", for example EIC, then it was other people's money. And it's all loss. If you paid anything in, then it was a loss. Gah.
And what's this BS about waiting to pay? I would have thought such a DUer would want their federal government to get their money as quick as possible, to help the suffering through government programs.

I'll bet you've never written a check to the US Treasury in your LIFE! First time you had to make a quarterly payment you would be crying like a baby.

1. If they get huge refunds, they are probably over-withholding
Free loans to the government? How is that a great idea?
I thought you HAD to be for giving the government everything you had or ever would have in order to stay in good graces on the island?

6. Ah, I see.

I worked with a guy for years that did handstands every year at tax time because he was getting a huge refund.
One day he found out it was really his money in the first place, and then it wasn't so exciting after that.
Hey DUmbass ..... it was ALL his money. He just had to give some of it to the government as an extortion payment. If you don't think it is extortion look up the definition of that word.

Wonder how long it will take these brilliant losers to figure out they did in fact get a tax break from Bush.....
Anyone who says paying their taxes is "no big deal" obviously is not paying much, if any taxes. I'll trade you tax bills Pam. I bet you would crap in your pants if you had to pay just the amount we will most likely owe (not what we have already paid). Our property taxes alone is around $10k. I'll let you pay that since taxes are no big deal.

Yes Pam - I pay those quarterly taxes to provide your sister with her EIC because I'm self-employed. And you know what that means? I pay my entire FICA tax and it's not split with my "employer." Oh, and I'll probably never see that again, either.
Paying taxes is maddening each and every quarter.

Pam Dawson has three sisters. I wonder if all three of them are EIC bums, or is she always talking about the same one? One thing is for sure. Her poverty-stricken sisters, who all their lives while growing up had to make allowances and sacrifices for their special-needs sister, really appreciate hearing her incessant bragging about her job, her medical insurance, her cruises, and her designer purses. Especially since they know, even better than we, that it's all a Pam fantasy.
