My fellow alum Skins seems to be up to something.
The old school tie tells all; something's going on.
It's too early to discern yet what it is, but it's something.
Everybody keep their eyes wide open while on Skins's island the next couple of days.
Enjoy.

Probably a purge over the health-care "reform," IYAM . . .

I dunno, but this seismograph or whatever is sensing a discombobulation adventing.

There's been alot and I mean a whopping shitload of open discontent with the current {D} in the Whitehouse which is against the rules at the DUmp. Maybe a crackdown is looming.
-
Ruh roh. Better kick your BO ass-polishing into high gear, DUmmies.
-
My mole is digging a deeper hole. Going underground.
Hey Dainbramaged. You still have me on ignore?
-
Preparing for posts and all the hate after Brown wins on Tuesday.
-
He's making up new rules for Tuesday and briefing all the Mods for the chaos that will erupt. I'm so looking forward to it!
-
One thing I have seen wandering the island yesterday and today is the enormous need they have to pacify or placate each other.
We look at the upcoming Senate election with interest and hopefullness but always recognize that it may not turn out as we wish.
Over there I have noticed a barrage of "She is going to win" "It is in the bag, don`t worry" stuff trying to settle people down.
They are on the cusp of a possibly huge meltdown where the simple things they focus on to remain even slightly coherent are about to fall away.

I'm sure donators will be immune even if their sig reads "Pinochet/Palin '12"
-
If FR hasn't had similar meltdowns in recent memory then I would chuckle at their panic.
I don't know, maybe this is a really good thing. Both parties are being shaken to the core since Obama has taken office. The most notable part about this is that it is not the RNC or the DNC that caused the snow globe to be shaken -- it's the Independents. They are biotch slapping both parties quite soundly and I'll be damned if they aren't enjoying it.
That is worth grabbing the popcorn over.
-
So for the record, it's the hard-working, tax-paying, church-going, INDEPENDENT, who has had quite enough of this tax the shit out of me and spend it on your interest groups nonsense. They also enjoy living quite safely and not having to deal with terrorist threats on our soil.
Don't pay any attention to them though DNC. You have become quite irrelevant to them anyway.
-
This is the first time in my lifetime that I've seen this kind of of arrogance by politicians. You'd think we were living in Venezuela or Cuba!
Politicians, especially if they have a "D" before their name, are truly ignoring "the people". Never thought that would happen in America! What we are witnessing is truly astounding to those of us born in the 50's.
-

lol. they'd see that as an insult to Palin, probably

What you are seeing is desperation to codify the road to socialism..they know what the country is thinking so they have to entrench it now as the window closes.

The DUmp will have a laugh riot meltdown on Tuesday night, if that socialist woman loses in Massachusetts. Anyone who wants to fully enjoy the pandemonium will need a mole account, because a lockdown is virtually guaranteed. It won't be as much fun as election night freudenschade in 2004, because the DUmp is so divided, but the bloodletting will be unprecedented. I still think the odds are slim, but if it happens, it will be a truly beautiful thing.

I'm noticing some unease and disturbances among the primitives, but nothing big yet.
The deal is, the primitives' feelings are closer to the surface, the primitives having no veneer of decency and civility clothing them, and so when something bad's about to happen, it's more noticeable among them, than it is among decent and civilized people who cloak their feellings.
It's a good illustration of the mass subconsciousness, Skins's island.
I could be wrong, but I suspect it has something to do with internecine blood-letting, than with any dark external forces hovering overhead like storm clouds.
-
Obi-Frank says there is a disturbance in the farce.... Chewbacca agrees.
could get interesting.

Apparently there's going to be a lock-down on Skins's island tomorrow, and most assuredly if the overwhelming odds are defied, and the Republican wins the U.S. Senate seat once belonging to Henry Cabot Lodge.
And then after Skins's island is unlocked, probably its population will have been diminished.
Keep your eyes open folks, and enjoy.

Coach, I'd never get a mole in there. I wouldn't be able to take the insanity and stupidity.
Someone's gonna hafta bring the stuff over here.

Bad ju-ju. They will keep close tabs on IP addresses.

Well, there's always an option.
franksolich's mole never goes ashore on Skins's island during meltdowns.
If someone else spots a campfire, just copy-paste the whole thing, no formatting needed like when one posts it, just copy-paste, and send it to me.
I'm always more than happy to post on behalf of others.

As of early this morning, before the inevitable lockdown likely to occur this afternoon, one noticed something more than a, uh, trickle of primitives rowing away from Skins's island, to other refuges.
If one checks other liberal web-sites--such as that nasty PI site, or Big Jerry's salon, or that firedoglake place--one would see a bunch of names new there, but old to those familiar with Skins's island.
Of course, one has to remember the purpose of Skins's island--to attract, collect, and segregate the fringe elements of the Democrat party, so as to keep them out of the public eye--and so my fellow alum Skins has no intention of mausoleuming the riff-raff.
The last thing Skins wants is to see Pedro Picasso or Doug's ex-wife posting elsewhere on the internet, where they'd be likely to bring much shame and embarrassment to the Democrats and liberals as a whole; he wants to keep them in his pocket, under control.
The riff-raff will survive.
-
I'm keeping the moles I have left quiet today. A quick perusal of their GD and GDP does indicate some members conspicuous in their absence.
The tears and wailing that's imminent will be worth rowing over to enjoy.
-
I wonder if the DUmmies see the irony in being lockeddown during a free election? :-) nah.
-
Maybe I'm just dense, but how can you "lock down" an internet forum? I guess I don't understand much of this thread.

Comments have to be reviewed by mods before they are seen? I dunno, but some blogs moderate their comment sections in that way.
-
You could also refuse any new user-account applications made that day, and even temporarily lock out some users based on some criterion, such as having a new account and not enough posts yet to make you a known quantity. For a site like DU, there is probably at least a little common-sense (about the most they'll ever have) in making it harder for posers and trolls to try and eff up their forum on a day like today.
-
Expect the "crash" where the site won`t load and then will be excused as a computer glitch a day later...so sorry DUmmys.
It is the usual action they take in explosive times lately.

Well, any site that gets too many hits too fast will go down, even if all of the hits are from legitimate users. If every legitimate DU primitive starts trying to read every article at once, and if they are continually hitting the refresh button to get updates on the "Live" election threads, then they'll be generating a heck of a lot of traffic to the servers which could very well overwhelm them, even if their management don't try to pull the "server's down" trick as a means of curbing the enthusiasm.
Then again, they might also get hacked today. ;)

Almost on cue, this site has slowed to an absolute dial up paced crawl for me right now.

It was pretty slow for me, too, until just a few minutes ago.

By "lock-down," I mean that only members are allowed to view Skins's island.
All web-sites have that capability; we use it here to a limited (very limited) extent, in that only logged-on members can see certain forums, and more so, that only members who are logged on and have more than 50 posts, can see other certain forums.
-
^yeah that. essentially Skins will limit the bonfires to the fire starters and ember kickers. The lookey-loos won't be able to see anything.....
-

Yup, same here. At one point it simply stopped loading for me.

Me too. Seems to be fine now though.

One sign is when the primitive avatars and signature lines no longer show up.
That means the elusive enigmatic elad is taking down the bells-and-whistles; this is usually done during unusually-high traffic, so as to save bandwidth, and it's also a prelude to a lock-down.

Oh....I was referring to this one. It was slower than molasses earlier.

That happens sporadically here.
The machine that runs conservativecave is stored at some place in Florida, and the place that stores it also maintains it. They're supposed to do their maintenance work during the middle of the night, when there's hardly anyone around, but sometimes they end up doing it during the day too.....and when they're doing that, it slows down the site.

So how much cash do we have to raise in order to support our own server?
-
We're working on switching hosting companies.
I watched the server last night during the election... our CPU load never got above 50%, the memory usage is even lower.
