Title: Scott Brown files ethics complaint against Coakley
Post by: ballantine on January 16, 2010, 07:33:49 PM
Republican Senate hopeful Scott Brown has filed a complaint with the State Ethics Commission after a report that a union backing rival Martha Coakley used state resources to urge workers to volunteer for Coakley’s campaign.

The report by FOX25 said the Service Employees International Union used state computers and e-mail addresses to direct state employees to volunteer for Coakley, the Democratic state attorney general.

Coakley’s campaign referred questions to the attorney general’s office. A spokeswoman said the attorney general’s office has received the letter from Brown’s attorney and will review it before commenting.

The SEIU did not immediately return a call for comment.

There's some awful funny funny business goin' on there.

BTW, everyone have their Martha Coakley victory parties planned, yet?

C'mon, you know that she's going to be the one the MA Secretary of State certifies as the "winner" to Congress - before midnight on Tuesday - even if 99% of all eligible Mass. voters actually voted for Scott Brown.  There is simply no way that the Democrats are going to let him win this election; they will, if need be, simply steal the election out from under him, as Ed Schultz so felicitously put it.

The Washington Post has more information on the defamation suit:
Quote
Republican Scott Brown charged Saturday that a Democratic mailing against his U.S. Senate campaign violates a Massachusetts law prohibiting false statements against a political candidate.

The cover of a four-page mailer sent by the Massachusetts Democratic Party says, “1,736 women were raped in Massachusetts in 2008. Scott Brown wants hospitals to turn them all away.”

Brown is a state senator, and in 2005 he filed an amendment that would have allowed workers at religious hospitals or with firmly held religious beliefs to avoid giving emergency contraception to rape victims. The amendment failed, and Brown voted in favor of a bill allowing the contraception. He also voted to override a veto issued by his fellow Republican, then-Gov. Mitt Romney.

Sounds like the Coakley campaign hired Alan Grayson as a consultant. :whatever:

****ing sweet. Nice to see someone stand up to democrat corruption and dirty tricks.

It puts them on notice not to pull any bullshit with the ballot counts as well.

The best defense is a good offense.

I've been watching the Brown and Coakley ads on television from the Boston stations the last few days.

Coakley's ads are shit-slinging of the highest order, and smell like total desperation.

Hi,

I am not so sure that having Clinton and BO campaign for her did not hurt more than it helped.  Sure hope so.

Oh, the Globe and the other alternative newspapers which are playing fluff boy for Chokeley are claiming a last-second rebound which will save the day for the botoxed socialist hack, but listening to the folks who I encounter coming up from Mass tell a different story entirely.

The DNC has to be VERY concerned if she doesn't win by at least double-digits.  Any other time, Brown would have been toast months ago.  And the voters of Mass are not falling in line like dutiful sheep when the name of Kennedy is mentioned.  Very telling, indeed--when the tyrant dies, they no longer hold the same sway they once had.

Funny, that.

The days of the love fest for the Kennedys died years ago. It was their money that kept them in office after John F died.

I'm just hoping the suit goes on. I'd hate to see Senator Brown drop this just because he won.

Her father, D'Lessandro or something like that, was a machine mayor of Baltimore.
