He knew the job would get done and not half assed like with Clinton
-
Why? So if it don't go well or make Obama the big hero, it will be Bush's fault AGAIN? I smell a setup here. :tinfoil2:

This won't go over well in some circles...I can see it now.

Seems Clinton and Carter woulda been the logical...
In 1994, Haitian General Raoul Cédras asked former U.S. President Jimmy Carter to help avoid a U.S. military invasion of Haiti.[27] President Carter relayed this information to President Clinton, who asked Carter, in his role as founder of The Carter Center, to undertake a mission to Haiti with Senator Sam Nunn, D-GA, and former Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman Colin Powell.[27] The team successfully negotiated the departure of Haiti's military leaders and the peaceful entry of U.S. forces under Operation Uphold Democracy, paving the way for the restoration of Jean-Bertrand Aristide as president.[27] Aristide left the presidency in 1995.

Is that Operation still being undertaken? WTH? If anything, this tragedy will be the spark I need to learn more about this "poor 3rd world" in our hemisphere.

I heard a speech or ad that Bush had done for Haiti relief fund raising. "You know, some people want to send water, others want to send blankets. Just send your cash." It was pretty bad. :thatsright:

He said that this morning when Obama introduced him and Clinton.
It might have been crass...but it's true.
They don't need people sending used clothing, blankets, household stuff or anything like that right now.
They need money to buy medical supplies, water, food.
I've heard of different organizations doing clothing/bedding/tent/ camping supplies etc....Haiti doesn't need that right now. They will ....but not today.
Today they need cash paper money to get emergency supplies, fuel, generators, etc.
He didn't softsoap what it needed...just came right out and said it.
And will probably be criticized for it by many....and crucified for it by more.

I heard the Haitian Ambassador to the U.S. say the same thing on the T.V. here the night after the quake hit.
I thought it was crass at first...but I began to think about it and it made sense.

That's the job of the 10,000 United States Military personnel who will be in Haiti by Monday.
