Heard some rethugs talkin bout Haiti. They complained that now they will ask for help.
And laughing at their level of infrastructure dissaray. These people are looking at the Haiti news coverage, JUST LIKE the coverage of New Orleans. With the same level of compassion. So, what I am saying, is that Rethugs have no more feeling of national kinship to blacks in LA, as in Haiti. Nor any higher level of responsibility of one to the other.
After the OP there is a bunch of "Yah, those rethugs suck, etc ...

But what would I know..I only lost a home and everything in the Northridge earthquake ..Jan 17th 1994..
and saw devistation..and deaths ..and collaped buildings and people trapped in buildings..can we not give this political stuff a rest regarding Haiti right now..people are trapped ..people are dying or have died.

It did in excess of 900 dollars in damage.
Sad to say, but an earthquake might actually IMPROVE Port Au Prince...

I doubt you'll see the trust fund WTO protestors, Dykes On Bikes, NARAL, or any DUACers shuttling down there to man the shovels or the field hospitals or the food banks. They'll have more important things to do, like discussing the latest Photoshop job on Bobby Jindal's portrait.

I've aware of several missionary groups just in the tiny area I live in that have been going to Haiti to help the people build and plant and to give them food and clothing for decades now.
The primitives just discovered Haiti yesterday. But I'm sure the faxed pictures of their hands and the silent threads ...

Well, I think there may be one conversion. DUmmy flyarm is contemplating the jug-eared muslim forcing the Baltimore Orioles to take away her Cadillac health insurance. If that happens, she would lose her access to red carpet treatment in the Andy Stephenson wing of Johns Hopkins Hospital. Since she now lives in Florida, she would be assigned an O-doc down there, and would be admitted to a 16-bed ward at a public clinic, jammed in with all the Cubans and Haitians down there in Florida, if the death panel decides she is worth hospital care. So DUmmy flyarm may be starting to see at least a glimmer of the light.

I checked up on that a little earlier. The Southern Baptist convention, for one, is working through the Florida branch because they already have people in Haiti.

It does make one wonder how many lives which have been lost might otherwise have been saved were the buildings to a similar standard as more wealthy nations.
Here's hoping the recovery process can rebuild, better than before.

Every single one that gets involved ends up pocketing American dollars and screwin' the Haitian people. Their own people, who could help them, would rather get rich quick rather than help his/her own people! Most of the time with the American Gubmint helping them!

Never mind that that an Aircraft Carrier can produce thousands of gallons of fresh water per day, provide lots of electrical power , advanced medical facilities , logistical support , aircraft control and operations and a whole bunch of other services.
