Hi everyone,
I've been lurking on your site for awhile now and want to say hi and join the conversation. Feel like I already know many of you and look forward to reading your funny posts and adding finds from over at the DUmp.
About me: I'm a Texan living in Chicago, so as they say, I'm drowning in a sea of blue- ha!

Welcome, glad you decided to make the leap and join in. Hope the global warming isn't too deep in Chicago. :-)
-
Welcome to the cave. :cheersmate:
Why would you leave Texas to go to Chicago? :o
-
Thanks Bijou and Carl. I transferred here for work a few years ago. Funny that many of my friends are transplants as well. I love city living, love the weather (if you can believe it), and friends I've made here. I go back to Dallas often to see my family and fill up on southern hospitality :).
Thanks again for the welcome.

Welcome to the cave. Since you've been lurking for a while, I'm sure I don't need to warn you about going against the Republican group think on some of the political threads, and for Gawd's sake don't even think the name Ron Paul, as certain members have a tendancy to lose their sanity and jump to conclusions when that happens.

Welcome 'chica! Contrary to rich's cheery greeting, we only bite on days whose English names end with "d" "a" "y". Large business centers seem to get a lot of "transplants." Most of the folks I've worked with here in Silicon Valley have been from other states or countries; I'm almost odd, I'm a native CA'ian (from the saner part, the Central Valley, :-)).

Hey Rich and SVPete,
Thanks for the welcome! Lurking for 'awhile' actually means a little over a week- haha. I guess i should've clarified. I don't know all the rules and the inside jokes like some of the longer term lurkers might. The main time I've spent here has been to read commentary on DU. I swear if I had not read their site, I would think people were making it up.
Looking forward to reading and commenting more.

Hi Chica....and welcome!
Went to HS and college (NIU) up near your area....and I still miss it...even the weather! :-)
-
My only question is Cubs or White Sox?

I almost never go there, but it's definitely a "you can't make this stuff up" kind of place. Being their conservative complement is one thing I want to avoid.
As regards rich's comment, every Star trek fan knows you can't trust Ronulans. Sorry rich, I couldn't resist ... and didn't really try.

Dude/dudette .... I'm so sorry for you! Hopefully you will wander back to Texas for good and get out of BlueHell.
Welcome.

Welcome from a former longtime resident of the fine city of Chicago.
-
Thanks everyone. I appreciate the welcome.
DebK- I've been up in that area a couple of times. I still haven't seen most of the state and have been here for almost 4 years. I got rid of the car when I moved. Need to rent a car and take in the sites.
As for baseball - I'm only a fan if I'm forced to go (work, etc) and the drinks are flowing :). I stay the heck outta Wrigleyville whenever there's a game.
As for going back to Texas - I'm sure I'll move back down there at some point. It's expensive here, but for now I am happy.
PS Texacon- I'm a woman :innocent:

Hello there and welcome from Texas!
-
My only question is Cubs or White Sox?
A Texan would say, "Rangers"!!!! Welcome to the forum, Chica.
-
Thanks IassaFTots and Thor. I almost said Rangers (used to work around the corner from there).

Hey I'm from Dallas and recently moved to Orange County, CA. I hate it (have been here since August). I want to go back. :(
Welcome :)

My only question is Cubs peach cobbler or White Sox scum sucking liberal child abuser?
fixed for clarity.
-
Haa- you guys are funny. I think there's an inside joke about peach cobbler (or so someone warned). Otherwise I would've innocently stated that I love it ;).
Lived in Dallas but worked in Arlington (right around 6 Flags/Randoll Mill).
Thanks to everyone for the welcomes and all the laughs so far. I've really enjoyed it.

Sounds kind of familiar, but I pretty much left Arlington after High School. My favorite burger joint was Al's.
