Let's screw the pharmaceutical companies
An NPR story this morning tells a tale of two brothers. Twins. One develops diabetes, one is avoiding the disease.
The story informs us that small changes can make a dramatic difference in your chance of developing the disease. Losing 7% of your body weight can reduce the chance of developing diabetes by 60%. And the study that was done comparing "treatments" found that lifestyle changes were twice as effective as Metformin.
In fact exercise alone, without weight loss, kept blood sugar levels in good order.

I'm all for it, but I bet if it invovled mood-altering pharmaceuticals, and not insulin, the primitives would be against it.

That is very good information for people who can avoid the disease by staying in shape. Not everyone can of course.

2. A story handed down to me as my great aunts all had diabetes and were not overweight women, they lived on tea and toast..Anyway, that diabetes "skips" a generation. Is this true. I remember when my first son was born, he was a pretty big baby for little ole me and that was the first concern. Did I hear wrong, just curious...
