Sex offender names posted
http://www.omaha.com/article/20100104/NEWS01/100109904
By Martha Stoddard
LINCOLN — The names, addresses and photos of all registered sex offenders went online today after a flurry of court activity failed to block their posting.
The information was posted under a new Nebraska law, which requires that all offenders on the state registry be made public.
Previous state law only made public the names of sex offenders considered at high risk to re-offend.
Authorities notified schools, day care centers and religious and youth organizations of offenders at moderate risk to re-offend.
Sarpy County District Judge David Arterburn cleared the way for the full list to be posted this morning, when he refused to extend a temporary restraining order.
That order had been issued late Thursday, just hours before the names were to go online.

No replies yet but we all know where this thread will go.
The only group of people who they want to protect the rights of more than terrorists, are rapers and child molesters.

Aw hell, I was expecting to see a members listing of real names from DU. :evillaugh:
-
My guess is they are all off checking to see if they have been outed by the list.

1. Its almost a daily thing in the New Orleans Newspaper
in the classifieds. Sex offenders have to buy an ad with their picture and what they have been convicted of and when the offense occurred and their address.
I wonder if we would see his mug there.

2. I have said for years that those lists are only valuable when public and when they only contain
people who are dangerous to us. Not everyone convicted of every "sex crime" is dangerous to the public. The more we extend the list to people who don't need to be on it, the less people will pay attention to it.
Why don't the moonbats feel the same way when the liberal press list the names of CCW holders. They claim a public right to know.
Hypocrites, all. :bird:

5. My question still remains, when does paying for a crime end?
Upon death? For the teenager caught in a car necking with his under-aged girlfriend, does he suffer for the rest of his life because we don't know when to stop punishing the poor? That's what this is all about. Punishment of the poor for the rest of their lives because they could not afford the best defense money can buy.
I know, there are LOTS of hard core sex offenders too. But if we're so afraid of them, why not just sentence them to life in prison, or the death penalty? Why don't we do the same thing to shoplifters, thieves, people who get convicted of assault with a deadly weapon, drunks, why not ALL OF THEM.
Society just sucks. Your punishment doesn't end when your ****ing 'debt' is paid.
His outrage speaks volumes.

7. A friend of mine works at a residential housing facility for registered offenders
who are also mentally ill or mentally retarded. These men are dangerous. They can have no images of children anywhere in the house, including on the tv. My friend said one day a show came on and a child was in the show. One of the guys in the house was masterbating in front of the tv within minutes. They also had a neighbor kid knock on the door to sell something and the residents were all but knocking each other down to see the kid. He tells us it is really scary how these men are sick and it is practically uncontrollable.
These men need to be on a list that everyone sees. No child should ever knock on that door. Every parent should know who they are and what they look like. They are the boogeymen we were warned about. Some 19 yo with a 16yo girlfriend is not a threat. Even the old perv down the block who wants to get his rocks of with the boys in high school is no threat.
That last line is chilling. Say what ?

Fcuk the DUmmies, they are all for the names of donors for Prop 8 in California to be posted on line. They had no problem with the names of people that received huge bonuses being made public. Yet when it comes to low life pedophiles and other sex criminals, they have a problem with violating their privacy? Fcuk them.
-
Not only should it be posted but handed out at the schools so parents can see a local list
-
Damn right I want the list to be public. If these people didn't want to be publicly shamed, they should have kept it in their pants.
I have an app on my iPod that will list the sex offenders in a given zip code. I have to tell you, I feel better knowing that if I'm at the play area in the mall with my kid and there's a creeper hanging around, I can pull that puppy out and look up the sex offenders in the area. I'd rather invade someone's privacy than have my kid kidnapped and raped.

Oh, but Shadeaux, that's just Kevin Jennings, Obama's safe school czar. Nothing to see here.

I didn't realize making out in cars was one of those economic justice issues!

It sounds like the Braindamged DUmmie is making a personal plea on his own behalf.

This is a bouncy if ever there was. WTF would a "neighbor kid" be doing selling something at a residential housing facility for mentally incompetent sex offenders? If it were a "neighbor," they'd know what it was. And if it is a facility for mentally incompetent sex offenders, I'm certain no one can just go up to the door and "knock." Also, how do you control having children on TV? I call major BS.
"DainBramaged" may indeed be thus, but he makes a point here, though I don't really think he's trying to make the point I'm conceding with.
I know, there are LOTS of hard core sex offenders too. But if we're so afraid of them, why not just sentence them to life in prison, or the death penalty?
And I think this is a good idea. Most of the complaints bleeding hearts have is that people have to publicize their sex offender status regardless of their crime. This specifies the crime; I would be able to determine for myself whether I should be worried:
