Title: Miserable Monday?

Cold this morning...wind chills below zero, which resulted in a 2 hour delay for schools  :whatever:.

Mr Flame starts a new schedule today, which I really dislike...back to shift work, and he's doing the 1-9:30 thing this quarter.   Part of the perk of moving from sunny Florida to the deepfreeze was that he was supposed to work "regular hours", since he was in an office.   Stupid inmates whining about crap, and stupid powers that be that listen to them.

Anyway, it's going to take some getting used to, but I guess better this quarter than next, when I'll have 2 boys playing baseball again.

I was supposed to go back to work today after a week and a half off for Christmas and New Years, but I have to report for jury duty.  :whatever:  I warned people before I left that I might get called up, but I'm still feeling somewhat guilty.

Frickety Frack.  First Full work week.  I have a feeling it is gonna be LONG.  Supposed to hit record lows later in the week, first time in 15 years, the temp will be 10 or something like that.  Fortunately, no wet weather, just cold.

Yup, she is a cold day, wouldn't be so bad if it quit blowing out there so strong.

We, or most of us made it alive into the new year, lost 2 in November that was expected in the long run.

January and a new calender and appointments to fill in, birthdays and anniversary's to make note of.

I have got to find a good electrician, the new thermostat Hubby put in is as bad as the last, time to get an expert out here.

Then our car doors have taken to freezing open or shut on their own. What the heck do they make car doors out of these days, I had this problem with a 1964 Sting Ray but first time the Jeep went sour.

This is the time for dreaming, have to request tons of catalogues for spring planting, getting a reservation for renting  a small rototiller come March.

Dogs and cats need new years physical --big bucks.

First of a new year, have to girdle my loins for what may come to pass this year for good or bad.

Up to a whopping 19 with snow flurries.  :brrr:

The heat guy is back here for the 4th or 5th time... :maddernhell:...no hot water in the house, and no heat on the first floor since Saturday. They were too busy to get out here last week to put in a part that was ordered.  ::)

I don't understand how coming out and cleaning the systems, making sure there were no natural gas leaks (a concern after a house was totally destroyed after a natural gas leak) and finding out why the floors didn't have the hot water going through them, has resulted in all the problems since.

We had heat, we had hot water. We just didn't have warm floors.

Since the first time he was here....we have had intermittent hot water, intermittent warm floors, and now the last 2 days - no heat on the first floor.

He has been here a MINIMUM 6 hours each time he's been here.

We are not happy campers.....

You win for the Miserable Monday.  Makes me glad I haven't ever had to call a repairman.

Repairman just left.

He replaced the thermostat in the boiler, so we are supposed to have hot water in a bit. That should also heat the floors.

He swears the furnace is also hot water heated....I don't think it is. We will see.

M didn't pay him...which is a good thing. I had cancelled the $760 check I wrote the first time he was here, the next morning after my SECOND cold shower!!

I am not paying him for all the hours he's been out here screwing around with it!  :censored:  They advertise as specializing in boiler systems...I asked the guy if he knew what he was doing before he even started and he said "oh yes...if I have any problems, I have someone I can call". HA!! The 3rd time he was here, he brought someone with him....the one time I walked out into the garage...the other guy is on the phone explaining the system!!

I would call someone else, but there are few companies that advertise as boiler repair....and if I have to pay this company then by God, THEY are going to fix it!!  :banghead:

I hope.... :bawl:

Thank goodness I don't have everything tied into the boiler, I guess.  Yeah, it sucked not having hot water after 2-3 days during the ice storm, but at least my oil bill won't be devestating.

I know this won't mean much to some of ya'll but we had snow this morning !!!

I am a deep south girl living more north now and I'm tickled to death.  The middle of the week promises more with very cold temperatures.

I can't help it, I'm excited.

I just can't wait to see what our gas bill is going to be like.... :censored:

What I don't understand is how it's gotten so screwed up other than the guy didn't know what he was doing.

+1 deg. at 0500 this morning while walking the mutts.

My bathroom sink's hot water line froze up, but no busted lines. The Manabloc system is good for that. I have a small space heater inside my vanity that blows hot air right on the UNINSULATED WALL that resulted from a shithead contractor who didn't know enough to insulate knockouts.

 :censored: asshat.

Other than that, life is good.

You would think.

I think part of it is...too many years of having employees to do this stuff. The other part....I think he's more of a manufacturing type engineer. Give him some tooling or dye work or big manufacture machine that isn't working properly and he will redo it.

Give him a garage door opener and he'll call a repairman.... ::)

Sunny and cold here.  Snow scheduled for Thursday... no details at all, but they're predicting snow "showers".  That could be anything from 1/4 of an inch up to single-digit snowfall.  Quick, everybody panic.

Now the thing needs a new something or another.

Upshot...no heat or hot water.

Yep.

This one knows what he's doing. He's a retired Navy Boilerman ... :yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo:

He's ordered all new main things...ignitor, pressure valve, circuit board, etc....the new thermostat that the other one put in is not even right. The other company is paying for it all. The ignitor and circuit board or whatever it is...have been replaced in the last year -18months. Whatever the other guy did....caused everything else to go kerflooie!!!!!

Stuff may be here tomorrow, otherwise on Wednesday. Still no heat downstairs.

Kids showered over at son's friend's. M washed his hair in the sink and did a "ho" bath. Guess it's my turn next.   :brrr:

Oh MY! Sorry debk but let me say I am "the heat guy" and the reason you have this problem is NO ONE WANTS THIS JOB! You just cant find good people that want to work long hours in the freezing cold 9-16hrs a day 6-7 days a week nights weekends and holidays! I have been doing this for 33 years and I'm the guy they send out to a cust like you that all the young goofs cant fix it cause they just want to go home. I was out yesterday for 11 hrs. in 40mph wind and spitting snow with a wind chill of 2. Three homeowners were told "sorry there is nothing I can do for you at this point, your pipes are frozen ,so call a plumber and good luck" Wait till they get that bill! I have resorted to plead with people "Hey you live in the northeast it gets COLD here, you cant risk your home on us, whats you back up plan?" Its always warm at my house, I heat with wood. I have an oil boiler as a back up and I have electric heaters to back that up and if all else fails I have kerosene heaters. Hell would have to freeze over before I live the disasters I see every day in the winter! Sorry I'm just sayin.

For years we were hurricane prepared, not winter weather prepared.

I saw an ad on the local channel today for anyone needing a plumber the next few days. He's charging a flat $45 to go to your home.  The last time I called a plumber I about wet my pants.  I thought he was kidding when he quoted a price.  He wasn't.

I feel for anyone having plumbing problems they need professional help with.  It's hooker prices.   :-)

The original company has already said they would pay the bill of the company they called in.

I wouldn't be so pissed if the first guy had just admitted he didn't know what he was doing when I asked him before he started if he knew what he was doing.

Cats....my heat upstairs works, I have a gas log fireplace and there are a couple of large space heaters in the garage. The heat is not the main issue. The lack of hot water is. We have a Lennox natural gas radiant heat system....there are water pipes all under the first floor to heat it, and the furnace is also water heat. Upstairs is a huge Lennox heat pump system.

I want a hot shower!!!

Monday didn't end as well as it started out for me yesterday.  Somehow a virus got through everything and was running up my processor usage to incredible levels.  Had to reinstall the Operating system on order to get the damned thing quarantined off and then deleted from my computer.  Spent 5 hours last night re-installing everything.
