Title: Spy chiefs turn on President Obama after seven CIA agents are slaughtered

Barack Obama was accused of double standards yesterday in his treatment of the CIA.

The President paid tribute to secret agents after seven of them were killed by a suicide bomber in Afghanistan.
In a statement, he said the CIA had been â€˜tested as never beforeâ€™ and that agents had â€˜served on the front lines in directly confronting the dangers of the 21st centuryâ€™.

He lauded the victims as â€˜part of a long line of patriots who have made great sacrifices for their fellow citizens and for our way of lifeâ€™.
Yet the previous day he had blasted â€˜systemic failuresâ€™ in the CIA and other U.S. intelligence agencies for failing to prevent the Christmas Day syringe bomb attack.

â€˜One day the President is pointing the finger and blaming the intelligence services, saying there is a systemic failure,â€™ said one agency official. â€˜Now we are heroes. The fact is that we are doing everything humanly possible to stay on top of the security situation. The deaths of our operatives shows just how involved we are on the ground.â€™

But CIA bosses claim they were unfairly blamed at a time the covert government agency has been stretched further than ever before in Afghanistan and Pakistan.

Well, Carter did have Stansfield Turner ("HUMINT? What do we need that for? We got satellites!") to help him destroy our capability back then, even a screw-up like Carter couldn't have done that much damage single-haded.

Obama has two very consistent policies: 1.) Bite allies' asses; 2.) Kiss enemies' asses.

Post by: SVPete on January 03, 2010, 12:07:36 PM: I don't usually care for fauxtoshops like that - personal taste, not a moral objection - but that kind of captures the dilemma of D POTUSes since Carter. They despise the CIA; Clinton and, I'm sure, Obama despise the military. Yet they do essential things and, if only for political appearances, have to be commended when they do well, and their sacrifices have to be recognized.
