People are angry, DU
There is an important silver lining to Obama's selling out of "the base."
He sold us out. We can sell him out.
The one thing the Democratic Party and the Republican Party do NOT want us to do is to begin looking at "freeptards" and conservatives and libtards as people, with an actual beef.
There are a ton of angry people in this country right now, and it's time for people to organize.
So stop watching Olberman. Stop watching Maddow. Stop obsessing over Limbaugh and Fox News and Beck.
And start talking to conservatives. Debate them. Argue with them.
But engage them.
People, the conservative folks are on our side. They just don't know it yet.
We already knew the Republican Party stood for Big Business and against the American People. And now Obama and the Democratic House and Senate have shown us that they, too, are for Big Business and against the American People.
It's us against them, folks. Big Business vs. The America Citizen. Democracy vs. Free Market Capitalism.
People vs Corporate Political Parties.
Which side are you on?
It's an enormous campfire, so only a few primitive comments:

1. The one over all encompassing reason this will fail on a large scale
Dick Armey is the driving force behind the Tea Baggers. This isn't some grassroots spur of the moment populist rage. It is directed by a long time corporatist.
Oh, I dunno.

2. Dick Armey and Grover Norquist developed the industry of mobilizing conservative grass roots movements to support corporate causes such as promoting oil drilling. Harper's magazine has a facinating story on Grover Norquist and Ralph Reed, and how they made rent-a-causes a lucrative business. Freedom Works is hardly an organic grass roots organization.

10. It is, but here in Red State hell I am talking again with people that haven't spoken to me in years because of my sometimes strident arguments for bottom-up solutions to the top-down problems that have plagued us for decades.
They are right about where we are for the wrong reasons, but they are still right, and they have seen the things I told them would happen come to pass. So now we can talk again about the things we agree on (easier for me since I have no problem with people being armed) and discuss what can/should be done about it. No argument is more effective than being right time after time.
So, tomorrow I'm going to an old acquaintance's house to watch some football and catch up on the ruin that our live's have been turned into by the parasites that rule. There are a lot of fairly bright people on the other side, just as there are a lot of idiots on this one. If enough people that retain the ability to think get together, we can fix this.
OTOH, maybe I'm just being optimistic to the point of foolishness, but I'm compelled to try.

While some of us may be mad at some of the same things/people as some of the Freepers, but the kind of country they wish to create is totally different from the kind of country we wish to create.

50. People can disagree without being disagreeable, per Obama.
Liberals are not going to suddenly quit being liberal by just talking to a conservative. It's called reaching across the aisle. President Obama does it all the time. How can you simultaneously defend it when President Obama does it and condemn it when someone else does it?

20. I'm not on the side of the people that called me a traitor every time I spoke up against the Iraq War and everything else bush-co was doing. Those are the same people that are angry and the largest part of the teabag movement. That same teabag movement is being supported and fueled by not only the repuke party but also Fux Noise along with the other 24 hour cable news fests. They need fodder for their cameras and have tons of air-time to fill, of course they want angry sheeple out there. Since they are corporate owned and operated they tend to side with the right wing so why not use a bunch of racist, scared people to push their agenda.
**** that shit and I hope it blows up in all their faces. Angry people tend to turn on the string pullers sooner or later and hate.

57. i've seen too many people change their political opinions & orientation to buy the static picture.
one of my relatives participated in rounding up japanese in ww2 & making n---r jokes. later turned completely with no trouble whatsoever to accept both in his family. because social changes changed his thinking.
it's absolute bullshit that nothing can be done until minds are changed. you do things, & minds are changed. because personality & especially world view is not an individual thing, but a social thing.

It's delusional to think that the radical right has ANYTHING in common with us.
ANYTHING!
Being temporarily angry about the same thing does not make someone an ally.
And the premise that Obama has lost the entire "base" is laughable. Some people are disaffected, and we can argue all day and night as to whether it's valid or not, but the ENTIRE base is not lost. That's just silly.
Well, I guess the primitives don't want to join conservativecave, to talk with us.

Yes, we have a short attention span....takes about 2 seconds for the Obama/liberal BS to get our attention. Democrats, not so quickly....if ever.

... that giving more power to the people rather than to the gov't is a bad thing isn't anyone who ever really loved freedom and liberty in the first place.

What is even more ironic is the fact that libs do all they can to forget history as that is the only way they can maintain their love of socialism.

No need for debate or discussion. Go ahead, find yourself a freeptard. Look at their lives. Look at your own. Do you see the difference ?
Nuff said.
Oh and just to throw a wrench into your monkey dreams, I don't watch Fox news. I don't listen to Rush, I do like Beck in small doses. He hasn't brainwashed me either. He entertains me.

"My dog's a Democrat"
My dog sleeps about 20 hours a day. He has his food prepared for him. He can eat whenever he wants, 24/7/365. His meals are provided at no cost to him. He visits the Dr. once a year for his checkup, and again during the year if any medical needs arise.
For this He pays nothing, and nothing is required of him. He lives in a nice neighborhood in a house that is much larger than he needs, but he is not required to do any upkeep.
If He makes a mess, someone else cleans it up. He has his choice of luxurious places to sleep. He receives these accommodations absolutely free.
He is living like a king, and has absolutely no expenses whatsoever. All of his costs are picked up by others who go out and earn a living every day.
I was just thinking about all this, and suddenly it hit me like a brick in the head, Holy S#!t, my dog is a Democrat!
