Title: As the Nation’s Pulse Races, Obama Can’t Seem to Find His

By Maureen Dowd

I was walking through a deserted downtown on Christmas Eve with a friend, past the lonely, gray Treasury Building, past the snowy White House with no president inside.

“I hope the terrorists don’t think this is a good time to attack,” I said, looking protectively at the White House, which always looks smaller and more vulnerable and beautiful than you expect, no matter how often you see it up close.

I thought our guard might be down because of the holiday; now I realize our guard is down every day.

One thrilling thing about moving from W. to Barack Obama was that Obama seemed like an avatar of modernity.

W., Dick Cheney and Rummy kept ceaselessly dragging us back into the past. America seemed to have lost her ingenuity, her quickness, her man-on-the-moon bravura, her Bugs Bunny panache.

Huh. So MoDo thinks a terrorist attack on the White House would be better if Lord Zero were there at the time?   :evillaugh:

I guess the bloom is off the rose for her, too.

I dunno.  I think it is a little wierd that both Biden and Obama have departed the US to sandy beaches elsewhere.  I am sure that other Presidents and Vice Presidents have gone on vacation at the same time before, but it just doesn't seem right.

This was, and still is the problem with those who voted for BO.  So many view and/or viewed him as the great G.W.B. successor and savior.??  He never appeared (to me) like an avatar of modernity.  Please!  He's an inexperienced "kid".  He has broken almost every campaign promise, the latest being all this "pork" stuffed into the defense bill.  He is a weak President...and he's in way over his head.

I watched Alan Colmes last night (up against a Conservative Fox contributor).  They were discussing the failed Detroit terrorist attempt.  Colmes was just down right nasty.  He played the same old Bush card and there was just no use in reasoning with him.  Usually, when being interviewed, Colmes does back off and gives that smug smile of his.  Not last night!!  Colmes continued to defend, defend, and defend some more his precious BO.  Libs, and the way they "think"  :therock:   It's just maddening!

I hope Maureen Dowd is finally seeing the "error" of her way...  The President was not in the White House cause he was off once again, enjoying the perks!!

Well said.

I can't stand Colmes. Always figured Hannity would be the one to leave the show due to Colme's complete lack of intelligence. But sounds like it was the other way around?

While drinking coffee at a country store awhile ago, I read her column for today. In it she claims to let her conservative brother write "his rant" about Obama and company.....I think it may be her's.

Somebody look up her column for today.....honestly....I'm just to lazy to do it.

How the hell did you get her eyes to spin in the same direction?  She can't even do that...

Then again, it's no more right when they occupy the building. We've been without a president since W left office anyway.
