Title: NFL playoffs
Post by: ReardenSteel on December 29, 2009, 08:22:58 PM

To soon to speculate and it being the last week of the regular season... that's pretty cool. Still, the above link is kinda fun to play with as for a lot of teams, the playoffs have already started for all intents and purposes.

Good times ahead. Can anything in sports compare with the NFL playoffs? (short answer... no)

I am rooting for the Jets and think they have a good chance not just because of last week.
Of their 7 losses 5 I believe were in the last 2 minutes or OT.
They have been playing decent ball all year but those were still losses so they have to over come that by attacking and pounding.

Today's games . . . losing Welker, for NE, was pretty big.  I kinda think that Baltimore is going to break the jinx they have against NE (0-5 lifetime).  GB is on a roll right now.  The lower seeds (Ravens & Packers) win.

As for yesterday . . . Dallas is also on a roll right now.  Though I think that Brett Favre is going to end it next week.  Minny beat up the Jints pretty good (the Jints obviously had zero in their pride tank).  And, Mark Sanchez grew up yesterday.  He looked pretty cool in there for the three Jets TDs.  Right now, the Jets have the best defense in the AFC--maybe the entire NFL.  Maybe Rex Ryan wasn't an idiot when he said that the Jets should be favored to win the Super Bowl . . . probably was, but with the performance they had yesterday, one never knows.

Any way that both the Ratbirds AND the Pats can lose?  I so couldn't give a shit about this game.

As to the "jinx" that the Ravens have against the Pats, it's 21-0 Baltimore--with 3:55 to go in the first quarter, which is absolutely shocking.  ETA:  Tommy Boy just got picked off by Ed Reed.

I had a feeling the Ravens would win but OMG so far.

Still remember the Bills against the Oilers in 1993 though.

Now 27-7 Baltimore with 3:51 left in the 3rd.

Welker is likely to miss NEXT season too.

Favre will retire for real after next week. He will wonder whether is now engaged to Ware or Spencer.

Mark Sanchez has a big future in the NFL I would say.

Dead on.  If he came this far in his rookie year . . . next year, he's gonna be good.  Remember that Ben Rothesburger went 15-1 in his rookie year.  Got in the playoffs the next year as a wild card . . . and and won the Super Bowl that year, IIRC . . .

Watched the first half of the Ravens/Pats at the local watering hole.  Had to leave as I was gonna get sick from seeing all the Pats fans committing suicide in the bar.  Bartender was already dishing out the glasses of KoolAid.

You must have been among the latter day fans.  Those with a longer view of history are quite use to loss, ditto Red Sox fans. <g>

On the current game, hte Kaboys are indeed being handed their collective arses.  I was so hopin they would be doing better at this point but hey, that's life. :cheersmate:

The Cowboys exceeded my expectations of them for the season. Not a bad year. I'm sure JJ thinks otherwise...

They haven't been playing "football" in Seattle since early last season so it's been a longash wake for me. (I still watch the NFL to see what the real football teams look like)  :p
