Title: Rep. Stupak: White House Pressuring Me to Keep Quiet

(CNSNews.com) - Rep. Bart Stupak (D-Mich.) said the White House and the Democratic leadership in the House of Representatives have been pressuring him not to speak out on the "compromise" abortion language in the Senate version of the health care bill.

“They think I shouldn’t be expressing my views on this bill until they get a chance to try to sell me the language,” Stupak told CNSNews.com in an interview on Tuesday. “Well, I don’t need anyone to sell me the language. I can read it. I’ve seen it. I’ve worked with it. I know what it says. I don’t need to have a conference with the White House. I have the legislation in front of me here.”

The Michigan Democrat succeeded last month in getting 64 House Democrats to join him in attaching his pro-life amendment to the House version of the health-care bill. The “Stupak amendment,” as the provision is known, would prohibit the federal government from allocating taxpayer money to pay for any part of any health insurance plan that covers abortion except in cases of rape, incest, or when the life of the mother is in danger.

Stupak had contact with the White House last weekend, when the Senate voted 60 to 40 in the wee hours of Monday morning to shut off debate on the Senate version of the bill.

Stupak will be getting a visit from some FOO from Chicago. Busted kneecaps are an option, since Lord Zero's presidency rests on passing ANT form of HCR.

Nah......he'll get the opportunity to play "lets make a deal" with our money like that clown from Nebraska (apologies to Frank), and he'll walk away with millions for his state, and will have a sudden "reading disability".

Let's hope you are wrong; this turkey of a bill only passed by 3 votes. With election coming up, all of these birds in the House are up for reelection. This bill is toxic to many of their careers.

It wouldn't surprise me to see a few Blue Dogs, who originally voted for this mess, get "bit" by their constituents over the break, and switch when it comes up on the floor.  Sure, 2010 will be Hell for them in DC, because Pelosi will get even with them, but when the Republican Tsunami of November 2nd, 2010 rolls through, she's going to be impotent . . . not important any more . . .

I don't think they care......they are perfectly willing to commit "political suicide" to get this done.......they see it as the ideological chance of a lifetime, and many think that losing their seats is a fair price for going down in history as the group that got "national healthcare" passed.

This.

Cap-n-trade next. By end of 2010, we'll be a 2nd world country.

Some of them are.  But I think the rookies and Sophomore Congress Critters who are just getting used to life in D.C. are ready to fall on their swords for Mother Pelosi just yet.

There was a piece on RedState yesterday, where Lindsey Graham was complaining that with the way the Dems were going on health care "reform," it pretty much guaranteed that cap-and-tax would not be "bipartisan."  Too ****ing bad.

Nah, mine (sophomore) Che-Porter has her nose firmly implanted in Frau Pelosi's ass, and thinks she'll get reelected by us idiot sheeple no matter what.

I already sent her a note telling her in no uncertain terms that if she votes for the reconciliation bill, she can forget being reelected next year.  She's ignored me thus far, I don't expect this to change her tune.

Then the Repubs will gain control of the House and Senate 010. Health care and increased taxes will set the Democratic party back many years along with presidency losses.

Clearly there are some who just don't care.  None of my Congress-bitches - Schumer, Gillibrand, and Maloney - gives a damned, and they probably don't even have to worry about falling on their swords, given that they represent the Soviet Socialist Republic of New York City (for Schumer and Gillibrand, representing the rest of the State of New York is simply an after-thought).

That being said, there are others who are not so sanguine, either because they aren't as self-deluded as the Pelosi brownshirts are, or because they represent districts that are more likely than not to go to a republican in 2010 if they continue to drink the blue kool-aid.  Those are the ones we should all be focusing on, with everything we've got.  Look, if Pelosi, for all of her insane, egomaniacal threats and bribery, was only able to get a 3-vote margin to pass her ghastly version of Obamacare, then all we need to do is break two of those votes to defeat an Obamacare vote in the House.

" No Capitation, or other direct, Tax shall be laid, unless in Proportion to the Census or Enumeration herein before directed to be taken." but they don't care, do they?

The above is how the LWN's in Congress feel about how to defeat the Constitutional Government. And if we fail to treat them the same way, but staying within the local laws, we'll lose. Take your que from General Sun.

I would like to think so, but in the final analysis, I think that most of the "Blue Dogs" will be either bribed, or browbeaten into following her over the cliff.......I believe that the only thing that can stop this is a challenge in the courts......
