There are times that I am ashamed to be a liberal

You know I always thought part of the liberal ideology was the ability to be open minded. That liberals don't see things in black and white, like conservatives do. They understand the world is made up of shades of gray. Liberals are suppose to be people that have a great capacity for empathy. Yet I see the over whelming reaction by liberals DUers, over the puppy video, and it makes me hang my head in shame.

I posted on one of those threads. I didn't excuse what the soldiers had done. I merely asked that we restrain our judgement. That we try to show the same understanding and appreciation that we do any other group (be it criminals from the inner cities, people from other Countries angry at the US and so on).

Are not liberals the ones that champion the idea that we shouldn't engage in ethnocentrism? Yet we hold them to the cultural norms of the safety and peace of the US. I have seen comment after comment, including those on my post calling for restraint, that compare them to nazis, serial killers and slavers. Is this how we support our troops? Do we have no understanding or compassion for our own troops? Sure what they did was wrong and bad, but the reactions and judgements are way over the top. That soldier needs some help and to get out of that combat situation. He doesn't need us judging him a monster.

Here was my post for reference:

I beg of all DUers, please restrain your judgement of
these men. They are in a terrible situation. One that all those troop loving repukes put them in. They are witnessing death, destruction and carnage on a regular basis. They have been forced to kill men (and often their actions can result in the death of women and children). This is a situation that no human being should ever be put into. They have watch their friends and comrades be maimed or killed. To cope they do need to dissociate themselves from the normal values and way of looking at things, that they would in a safe peace time environment. So they are in a different mind set, one they are forced to adopt or they go crazy. On top of that many are suffering from PTS or burn out. It's just a terrible situation and it's important to remember all of this before judging these men.

The first step on the road to recovery is admitting that you have a problem. Most liberals can't even make it past this, so you are already well ahead of the rest of the DUmmies.

Which is why you might want to start thinking about whether you want pepperoni, sausage, or maybe extra cheese on your Tombstone.

Before we pat this idiot on the back, look at his thesis statement.  Because we have MORALS and VALUES, libtards take that to mean we think in black and white.  Some things are right and some things are wrong.

But, the libtard way is that if you don't have morals and values then you can never be a hypocrite.  What they call "open minded" and "shades of gray" is merely the inability to discern and differentiate.  It is an INABILITY to think.
