I used to think I'd like to live a long life.
Now I'm not so certain. I don't want to be a burden to my children or my husband and I have a health issue or two now. The more I've been thinking about the state of things in this nation, it feels like people in my age group and with health problems are being asked to shut up and just die already. I know my children and my husband would care for me--they've seen me through one bout with cancer and my chances for survival are very good. My husband has some minor chronic health problems which he has managed to keep them from becoming serious. It is still costly, nonetheless.

I'm very discouraged right now. I'm angry and frustrated, especially at how hard we worked to get these people there only to be denied basic decent care by them. Over the years we have paid out huge amounts to the insurance companies for everything from autos to home to health to life and they do their best not to meet their obligations. When my mother passed away some years ago, her approval for SS came in the mail the day after her funeral. All of that money over all of those years that could have been hers to save. Ours to save and use at our discretion.

I'm so disgusted. And I do feel helpless now. And without much hope that things can ever be better. It is especially hurtful when such disrespect comes from those who had seemed to have your interests at heart. I don't want my existence to bankrupt anyone. I really fear that we will lose everything someday, and it wouldn't take much.

You're right, DUmmy skidmore. If you really care about anyone or anything, you should end it now. Before the next election cycle. But you're just all talk and no action, aren't you? Just like that muslim you voted for.

2. we all meet our end my friend
I guess it is just a matter of how we get there.

I know it is hard, but perhaps putting these thoughts off until after the holidays might be beneficial?

The holidays take their emotional toll on us all. Don't put additional pressure on yourself now.

Peace and low stress and hang in there my friend.

No sense it putting it off. Things are only getting worse. No health care, sizzling temperatures at the South Pole, butt bumpers can't get married, insurance execs getting rich, democrats caving on all the important issues. Skidmore should quit talking and do it now.

4. I hate deterioration
I think I'll die before I'm 70 - or at least I hope so.

Yes, DUmmy Hugh, we hope you do, too.

8. i'll feel like i'm being asked to shut up and not die already
i have a slightly different take on this, since several of my family members have/had dementia

i feel like we are deliberately being kept alive, a vegetable harvest if you like, so that our entire lifetime of work can go into some corporate hospital/nursing home pocket

i wouldn't object to "shut up and die already," if there was a way to arrange to be humanely put to sleep once i started to lose brain, i'd sign up tomorrow

i think we have a v. brutal society that looks at each case and tries to find a way to maximize the profit to the corporation, regardless of the suffering caused

as another poster says, we will all die one day, we need to have better options, so that those like you who still have brain/quality of life can all the help they need without question to continue having great quality of life

and those who have no quality of life, it's time to stop torturing them and just let them go to sleep

but there's too much profit under this current cruel system

A typical democrat DUmmy, making excuses. No one is forcing you to stay alive, DUmmy pitohui. You can end it cheaply and peacefully, with a roll of duct tape, a garden hose, and the family car. Do it now, because things are only going to get worse.

12. What is this hole & why do I keep falling?
Back in the bush administration I considered buying a gun. I thought of it as the 'new world order' gun. But I really don't want a gun in my house, so I resisted the (irrational?) fear that society would break down during those years & never bought one. Here I am, once again, considering buying a gun. Only this time I think of it as the 'way out' gun - a way out should my health become so bad that I become a burden on my family. Surprisingly, I had more confidence that I'd survive the bush administration than I do that I'll survive the American health 'care' industry.

And we still have members in our society who beat their chests, chanting, "We're number one."

Now we know why we had that shortage of handgun ammo. It was DUmmies buying their suicide supplies. I, for one, am glad to delay buying more 9mm if it will mean more DUmmies sending their sorry depressed asses to Hell.

Corporations are seizing fresh water, rights to food, seeds, even our genes. We are falling into a system worse than feudalism. We all have to work to turn this around. If this isn't stopped your children will live in a world worse than you can imagine.
Don't forget, W shredded the Bill of Rights.

Oh, the skidmarked underwear primitive, the disconsolate woe-is-me older middle-aged farmwife from eastern Iowa.

The skidmarked underwear primitive is always melancholy.

One would feel a little bit of sympathy for the skidmarked underwear primitive, excepting that three years ago, she endorsed physical violence against Republican candidates.

So one doesn't give a **** any more, and hopes the skidmarked underwear primitive remains miserable.

"All of that money over all of those years that could have been hers to save. Ours to save and use at our discretion."

She/he doesn't know it but she hit the nail right on the head...STOP taking our money...let us
"save and use at our discretion."

Hey Dummies, Do it for the enviroment! Think of how small your carbon footprint will be. You won't be expelling that ultra evil CO2 into the atmosphere.

Think about it, every second that goes by is one more second that you are killing the planet.

Show us how commited you are to the planet and off yourself while sitting in a compost pile.

From what I hear, it's really tough to qualify for Social Security. Hardly anyone ever gets a check.

You have set up a scene in your mind that is not what happens in the real world.
The government does not and can not exist to make any specific individual whole.
Doing so for you may be a disaster for someone else and vice versa.

All it should do is create a situation that you can make the most of your talents, abilities and ambition.
You have none of those so have begged for a foolish dream that will only disappoint you.

Welcome to the reality of life.

I always had the impression much of the skidmarked underwear primitive's disappointments in life come from her thinking life should be, or should have been, the way she thought it should be, rather than her adapting to the way life really is.

The skidmarked underwear primitive's not able to accept, adapt, and move on.

None of them are...they pine away for someone or something to fulfill their dreams which of course will never happen.

The thing that is difficult to discern is the question of whether they truly want that or is their happiness really stem from being miserable and feeling put upon.

All of that money over all of those years that could have been hers to save. Ours to save and use at our discretion.

Uh-oh, here's a contender for the ultimate Unclear on the Concept award!  What "money" does she think would have been saved for her to use?  The insurance premiums her mother paid?  Uh, sweetie, there's no such thing as a free lunch, why do you think Uncle Reid and Aunty Pelosi have larded up their respective monstrosities with new taxes out the wazoo, including an individual mandate that will cost you at least $750/year (and that's before it gets adjusted to meet reality).  Here's the deal, sweetie - every single penny that your mother paid in premiums would instead be taken from her in the form of either (a) new taxes, (b) higher costs for everything she bought, from soup to nuts, from breakfast bars to cars - to cover all of the brand-new taxes the employers who make that stuff are going to have to pay, and (c) overall lower economic performance - take 1% off of annual GDP growth, and after a decade or two, we'd all end up being substantially poorer than we would have been if we'd had that extra 1% of annual GDP growth.

So, bottom line, not only would you never have had that money in the first place, you, and more importantly, your mother, would have been poorer than you are now, and the final rub of salt in the wound is this:  your mother probably would have died of her cancer sooner under something like Obamacare than under the current pseudo free-market we have - don't believe me?  Go ask the British, who have just admitted that about 10,000 to 15,000 cancer patients a year - that's each and every friggin' year from now until eternity, or until the British get rid of socialized medicine - die unnecessarily because of complications and delays caused by their single-payer universal socialized healthcare system.

So, instead of whinging about how Zero-bama's let you down, you should be (a) thanking your lucky stars that your mother passed away - God bless her soul - before she was subjected to the barbarism of socialized medicine, and (b) doing your damnedest to make sure that you and your children are equally as lucky by telling your Congress-critters to knock off the funny business and vote against Obamacare.
