Matt at Creative Minority Report tells us of a woman in Virginia who gave birth and then suffocated her baby immediately afterward and what she did was completely legal. The police can't charge her with a crime because the state of Virginia has a loophole that allows women who have just given birth to kill their babies if the placenta is still in the them and the umbilical cord is still attached to the baby. She is guilty as sin of infanticide but free as a bird. This is what an investigator said about this case:
"In the state of Virginia, as long as the umbilical cord is attached and [the] placenta is still in the mother, if the baby comes out alive, the mother can do whatever she wants to that baby to kill it," Emerson reports. "She can shoot the baby, stab the baby or anything as long as it is still attached to her in some form by umbilical cord or something, and it's no crime in the state of Virginia."
That woman could have blown that poor baby away with a shot gun and the police couldn't do anything. The people who call themselves legislators in Virginia need to get their priorities straight and fix this. If they can ban partial-birth abortions, they sure as hell can ban post-birth abortions, too.

There's a video at the link . WTF is wrong with the state of Virginia?

This may be the worst story of the year, at least in reference to domestic policy and crime. How bad is it? When Matt of Creative Minority Report tipped me to it this morning, I had to track it down to make sure it was on the level. A woman in Campbell County, Virginia smothered her newborn infant, and police are powerless to do anything about it:
The caller said a woman in her early 20s was in labor. When deputies arrived, they discovered the baby had actually been born around 1:00a.m., about ten hours earlier. Investigators say the baby was already dead when deputies got there.
Investigators tell WSLS the baby’s airway was still blocked. They say the baby was under bedding and had been suffocated by her mother. Investigators say because the mother and baby were still connected by the umbilical cord and placenta, state law does not consider the baby to be a separate life. Therefore, the mother cannot be charged. ...

:o
Stories like this (and it keeps occuring more often nowadays) are the reason I think animals just may be more civil than humans.
At least the baby is in God's hands now.

This kind of thing is why I am now pro-life.....

This was discussed on O'Reilly last night.
Megyn Kelly explained that this law originally went into effect because of stillborn births, in order for the mother not to be prosecuted because her child was stillborn.
Megyn said that the state legislature is doing some rapid scrambling to change the law and redefine still births. She said it won't change the current situation, but the new laws will prevent it from happening again.

I was always Pro-Life...but I was "skooled" in catholic schools and they made us watch abortion video's in the 9th grade. That pretty much solidified it for me.

It happens when you have the post new window open, because it's hard to check other threads until you make the post.

Someone should smother that mother with a pillow

That is really terrible. :( I don't know how a mother could do that. That just breaks my heart. Both my girls is gifts from God.
