What day do you open gifts?
I am already sitting in the gift from my mother, a new rocker recliner. I ordered a laptop as a gift to myself. My mom will be going out of town early next week, so we will open gifts together before she leaves for the airport. (12/22)
I have gifts for a few other friends in town, I really don't expect anything in return. I just wanted to Bless a couple of families that are having hard times with a dozen or so gifts to open. That's how I roll.
As an older child, we always opened gifts on the 24th, not only were the pictures better (no pjs or crazy hair) we all slept better the night before Christmas. There were always stockings on Christmas morning, but they did not require power tools or getting my dad out of bed at 3 AM.

Christmas morning. The kids get new pjs to wear every year. They have a set time they are allowed to leave their rooms and get into stockings, but they are not allowed anything under or near the tree until dad and I are awake and have tea and coffee.
When I was a kid, we did Christmas Eve, because my mom didn't like the crazy of Christmas morning.

We usually open one on Christmas eve and the rest on Christmas day.

Yeah. that.

I grew up with everything Christmas Morning, after Mom had her coffee and cig. (We were trained young.) My birthday is the Eve, so we always had two discernable celebrations. Now, with the BF, we do presents on the Eve, and then go see our respective families during the day. Now, his family has the STRANGEST tradition. They don't open until after dinner. Not even stockings. With little children? And they wonder every year why the kiddos are bouncing off the walls. Odd indeed.

The present on Christmas eve was usually some crappy gift that I hated. Like a book or socks. Or a shitty toy. My sister & I then manipulated my parents into Christmas Eve. We made it sound like we were doing it for them! :lmao:

Christmas Eve. Christmas morning will always be spent with a 5 hour drive into East Texas.

Christmas Eve is spent with my cousin's grandparents (they live across the street from my grandparents). We open the gifts from that side of the family then, and Santa comes and brings a gift for the little kids. Christmas Morning is spent with my grandparents, and that is when we open most of our gifts. My mom still does a stocking for all my cousins and myself, so we open those while drinking our coffee :-) Then, once everybody is up and there, we open the rest of the gifts.

I will be home alone on Christmas, who wants to stop over?

Now that sounds like good fun times. Dig your avatar. :lmao:

Christmas morning but not till my parents have the tree fired up and coffee is being made. One of us would always sneak down to peek. And of course, the yearly "Mom? Daddy? Are you awake?" LOL! Good memories. :)

I am Klingon! If I want to open a present, I'll do it and dare anybody to stop me.
Now if you'll excuse me, it's time for my meds...

I am not getting any gifts. We're all broke this year. Now if that student loan comes again...
