Looks Like They Caved To Liberman...
<snip>
Washington (CNN) – Two senior Democratic sources tell CNN senate Democrats are headed towards dropping the compromise idea to allow 55 to 64 year-olds to buy into Medicare because of opposition from Independent Sen. Joe Lieberman.
"It’s what the White House wants and there aren’t many other options that allow us to finish by Christmas," said one source.
Senate Democrats had an emergency meeting Monday night to discuss this issue, which threatens to derail health care.
Although a final decision was not made at Monday night’s meeting, a second Democratic source said it’s likely a final decision could be made at meeting Tuesday of all Democrats with the President at the White House.
“I think there is a fundamental understanding of the direction we’re going in, “said Sen. John Kerry, D-Mass.
Before the meeting, liberal senators Tom Harkin of Iowa and Jay Rockefeller of West Virginia indicated that the so-called Medicare buy-in would likely be dropped, and while they didn’t like that, they suggested they would support a health care bill anyway.
"If he (Lieberman) is absolutely opposed to it, it looks like we won't have it," said Harkin.

And it was only this morning that there were reports of the WH telling Reid to cut a deal with Lieberman.
Coincedence???

1. I'm done
If they're too craven to stand up to Lieberman, then there's no point any more.

It's Freshly lit, but I think more bitter sweet DUmmie tears are sure to follow. :-)

Well, if I were someone over 65 years of age and on Medicare, I would love Joseph Lieberman, because it seems to me Joseph Lieberman just saved Medicare.
-
The news I've read on various news sites say it's more than just Lieberman. They mention around a dozen Dems who also had issues with it, but none of the dozen are named. So, it's more than just Lieberman, the media is just running him as quarterback.

Yes/No. He didn't save anything, he just slowed it's demise. We're (I think) less than a decade from Medicare being completely broke. Lower the age by 10 years and then cut $400B in funding, and all you do is push it towards the cliff faster than it is already moving.

Well, yeah, I knew that, sir.
But if someone's 72 or 85 or something, and on Medicare, the odds are pretty good he's not going to live to see the demise.
You and I yes, but the ones currently on it, no.

Are they running him as the quarterback or as the scapegoat? Conservatives may like Lieberman for doing this but the left will be focusing their anger on him instead of spreading it among all the deserving Dimrats.

Agreed. I'm just being picky tonight. :cheersmate:

Hi, Picky! Wasn't that your grade school nickname? It had something to do with your nose...... :p
Remember how in 2000 Joe Lieberman was the wisest man on earth and the perfect pick for Al Gore's running mate? It's a good thing for all the Little Goons that the USSC stole that election and gave it to mini-Shrub - otherwise the Little Goons would have to be calling that sorry jewbaby SOB "Vice President Lieberman". They should be down on their knees thanking the USSC.
-
Firedoglake is pushing for Leiberman's wife to be fired from the breast cancer charity that she works for over this. Libs are such nice bullies.
-
Wow, that's pretty f'king sorry.
Cowards.
-
Despite the fact that I would probably disagree with Lieberman on any number of particular policy issues, I have to say that he does seem to be one of the few responsible adults left in the Congress.
-
I don't know why the DUmmies are bitching so mightily over this. There's plenty in that bill for them to loathe and hate to their very core. Why not just kill the damn thing? We all hate it.

30. Why don't someone bash his face like they did to Berlusconi
the Italian Prime Minister. Some guy puched him in the face and
knocked his tooth out and bloodied his face. LIEberman deserves the
same treatment. And 2 or 3 others.

You and I are saying the same thing, just from different perspectives. He's the front man who can be used to provide cover for the whole team.
I was looking this morning and I saw this from a primitive:
David Zephyr
Is Lieberman really the bad guy or is he doing his fellow Democrats a favor by being their bad guy?
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=433&topic_id=57070&mesg_id=57070
But that's all I saw on the topic over there. Most of them are mindlessly blaming Lieberman because it's the path of least resistance.

Whiffleball, good catch. Name has been removed and message deleted. If anybody enjoys DUmmies wailing and gnashing teeth, that's a good thread to read. Somebody's "taking down Obama's pictures." HAHAHA!!! I can just see it. Like a jilted ex-lover, tears streaming down their face.

I'm going to go get myself a cup of coffee, flavored with the sweet, sweet tears of the DUmpmonkeys.
Suck it, hypocrites.
-
If I were Lieberman, I'd get some bodyguards. Those SEIU thugs might try to use the 'persuasion of power' on him.
