Title: More Democrats than Republicans believe in ghosts, talking with the dead

..."Conservatives and Republicans report fewer experiences than liberals or Democrats communicating with the dead, seeing ghosts and consulting fortunetellers or psychics," the Pew study says. For example, 21 percent of Republicans report that they have been in touch with someone who is dead, while 36 percent of Democrats say they have done so. Eleven percent of Republicans say they have seen a ghost, while 21 percent of Democrats say so. And nine percent of Republicans say they have consulted a fortuneteller, while 22 percent of Democrats have.
There's more. Seventeen percent of Republicans say they believe in reincarnation, while 30 percent of Democrats do. Fourteen percent of Republicans say they believe in astrology, while 31 percent of Democrats do. Fifteen percent of Republicans say they view yoga as a spiritual practice, while 31 percent of Democrats do. Seventeen percent of Republicans say they believe in spiritual energy, while 30 percent of Democrats do.
There are some areas in which the two partisan groups are similar. When Pew asked respondents whether they have had a religious or mystical experience, 50 percent of Republicans said yes, as did 50 percent of Democrats. But overall, there are sizable disparities....

They do, but they're lying.

Of course they do; they've got folks voting democrat who've been dead 20, 50, 100 years or better in some cases.  How the hell else do you explain it?

:golfclap:

Unfortunately, if you put these numbers in front of a Lib, they'll respond by saying that believing in God is a right-wing thing... and no different than believing in ghosts.

no fortune tellers. no psychic friends network who didn't know they were going bankrupt. no communicating with the dead.

One night when we had just moved into a duplex and were all sleeping in the living room my sisters best friend screamed that someone had scratched her back. She had scratches too.

Well, there numerous reasons that could explain that.

Then when we calmed down and tried to get back to sleep we all saw a white cat in the dark hallway and it sat there while we stared at it and then it turned and walked away into the darkness...  we searched the whole place and found no place where a cat could have come from or went. Very strange.

The next morning we found out that someone closely related to dad had passed away... about the same time we saw the cat... very weird.

don't know what it was, though.

I can't say that what you describe did, or didn't happen, as I wasn't there, but I can say that, with respect to cats, they can get into the strangest, tightest places.  My mother once tried to foster a cat that was really, really afraid of people.  One day, the cat got spooked by someone who came to the door, and fled down into the basement.  My mother figured he'd be back up in a couple of hours for dinner, but he never showed up.  When he hadn't shown up by the next morning, my mother spent most of the rest of the day trying to find him in the basement, to no avail.  She finally figured that he must have somehow snuck back upstairs and gotten outside, although she couldn't figure out how he could have gotten outside, either.  About that time, the furnace appeared to have developed a problem because every once in a while my mother would hear strange noises coming from the air vents.  The furnace guy came out twice, and swore up and down that the furnace was in perfect working order.  Finally, about three weeks later, the cat showed up at the top of the basement stairs, covered in dust and cobwebs.  We went downstairs and found a bunch of little mouse bits and other odds and ends that a cat had chewed on at the spot where the internal finished wall that covered up the cinderblock basement wall terminated, along with a lot of little cat footprints.  The cat had apparently managed to worm his way in between the cinderblock wall and the internal finished wall (through a space no wider than about two inches, and had been living in the spaces inside of the internal finished wall, hunting the mice that got into the birdseed my mother insisted on keeping down there, and was probably making the weird noises in the air vents by climbing around on the airvent ductwork that connected the furnace to the air vents in the other rooms in the house.
