Eight people were in custody early today after a crowd of angry protesters broke windows and threw burning torches at UC Berkeley Chancellor Robert Birgeneau's on-campus residence in protest of fee hikes and budget cuts, authorities said.
As many as 75 people - some of them carrying torches - surrounded the mansion, known as University House, on the north side of campus off Hearst Avenue at about 11:15 p.m. Friday, police said.
The crowd, including a man taken into custody in a university protest a day earlier, chanted, "No justice, no peace," and began smashing planters, windows and lights. Several hurled their torches at the building, said campus spokesman Dan Mogulof.

When 60's liberals refer to the "good old days", this is what they're talking about. Vandalism, arson, and assault.

Hi,
Right now the left is so afraid of violence and just looking to blame it on the radical right. What this is will be the tip of the iceberg. When the public backlash hits congress in 2010 and the cuts start coming in the free stuff, then all the violence in the world will be OK......
Gonna get a lot worse, the workers are going to be tired of having their money stolen by the government to continue to give away free stuff, and then those who get the free stuff are going to raise hell when the gravy stops coming their way.

This should probably go in the DUmpster but they have a DUmmy thread about this here (http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=102x4181764) and with a comment from one of the head lunatics it's going to be Bush's fault pretty fast. :thatsright:

Of course there is... you dirtbags aren't being held up as the noble arbiters of justice you see yourselves as. Liberalism just got another (deserved) black eye.

It seems to me it is going to get a lot worse before it can get better

6. The way for universities to raise revenue is to cut tuition and fees
That will stimulate so much demand and spending that revenues will actually grow.
:o

If this doesn't expose the left for, "Everyone suffers under this recession but us", I don't know what will!
