Hmmm, I'm starting to wonder if the OP is bragging in a roundabout way that he is responsible for some of it? :fuelfire: The OP is just a pasted link with the title, but there's interesting replies.

It looks as though the Sebastian Doyle was hit with the OP's porn script. :-)

2. Believe me, this shit happens all the time.
All it takes is one sick **** in an office with an agenda, and friends with the technical skills.
And then another DUmmy from the thread that wants to invade Wall Street is giving away his plan when the fed's come for his kiddie porn, little does he know that the FBI and other agencies can still extract information from almost any harddrive after it been wiped.

5. If cops want your PC, be sure to nuke the hard drive before hand.

Can anyone tell me when in History when Computers were used in homes ,Have any cops given enough warning for anyone to Nuke a hard drive? Or better yet had made one so utterly useless as to not have at least some remaining data on it? They only need one image or a page to convict a person on kid porn and if they can prove that you sent any material to anyone the charges get upped to major felonies.

Actually, you can overwrite your hard drive 3 times with either FF or 00 to every sector and no info can ever be retrieved. A sector contains 256 words consisting of 32 bytes by I think nowadays 64 bits. If you write a 64 bit hexadecimal 0000 0000 or FFFF FFFF 16 times you end up with every sector containing nothing more than FFFF FFFF FFFF FFFF or 0000 0000 0000 0000 on the entire disc. Do it nough times and no geek no matter how smart he thinks he is, can ever pull anything else off of it. .
We're actually talking magnetic media. If you continually fill it with one character enough times, it will magnetize the media into whatever character you want. most popular with the gubmint in thier 'puters id is either FF or 00.
Hope that makes it as clear as mud. I may have some things backwards in this "loose" translation, as it has been awhile since i delved, but you get the idea, I hope.

Magnetic media being the operative word. For optical media, like DVD and CD, the microwave oven works great.

Wait, lets not be too hasty -- If the primitive wants to erase his hard disk by putting it in the microwave, who are we to stop him ? :-)
