Okay, that's all there is, a video and no explanation of what it's about.

The Joanne98 primitive as usual is showing her insensitivity; this was posted about the same time the true blue primitive had kindly suggested that primitives, when posting a video, provide a short summary, at least one or two sentences, describing what the video's about, for the sake of the deaf and the hard-of-hearing.

The Joanne98 primitive has the sensitivity of a rock.

2. Nope doesn't sway me. He fails to point out that the whole holiday whether xtian, pagan, or otherwise, is just a commercial marketing ploy.

I'll buy gifts when people deserve them or I feel like, not according to some pre-determined day.

6. But I like getting lots of presents at Christmas! And I like giving them.

Sorry.

I also give birthday gifts, wedding gifts, anniversary gifts, Easter bunny presents and I just celebrated Turkey day.

Forgive me.

But, it's fun!

9. I hate the whole "having to " aspect of it. Even someone who doesn't deserve crap is supposed to get some well thought out gift.

Then afterwards, no matter how diligent and thoughtful one tries to be, half of what we buy for others either goes back and gets traded or is bitched about.

Sorry you can have it. I prefer gifts feel like rewards and considerations for the individuals involved, that makes me feel great.

13. But I like candy and cookies!

Just call me the cookie/candy monster at Christmas time!

14. Agreed.

I don't see how celebrating consumerism is any better than celebrating the mythic birth of someone named Jesus. Religious or not, Christmas is and always ill be a celebration of superficiality and egotism. If you want to indulge in food, drink, and exchange (insert products made in China here), then lets at least be honest that this is not the kind of behavior a wise and intelligent person would want to participate in, atheist or otherwise.

19. I'm wise and intelligent but I still like candy and cookies and gifts!

I and my spouse have fun at Christmas time.

And we give gifts to friends and people we love.

Sorry about that.

Have we violated some liberal or radical rulebook?

3. Heck, I'm an atheist, and have been one for over 40 years.

I celebrate Christmas. I believe in Santa just as much as I do in the Judeo-Christian deity. Gifts, family gatherings, good food, good company. What's not to like?

5. It's also Sir Isaac Newton's birthday.

Celebrate that instead if you like. Same fun, no religion.

8.  I've never been given presents on his birthday! Do you get gifts on his birthday?

We don't celebrate Newton's birthday in our house. If he were alive and was our friend we would!

10. Yes, I do.

He's widely considered the father of western science, and I believe in celebrating science!

So I give and receive gifts then. I even send out these 'xmas cards'.

And a right old asshole.

But hey, I love gravity as much as the next guy.

7. It's a time to celebrate family and loved ones, it would be a lifeless existence if there wasn't a time set aside for it. It would only really be hypocrisy if we attended mass other than that it's a time to eat drink and be merry.

15. I am a Pagan and I celebrate Yule....

With my Yule tree with lights and my Yule log (last years yule tree) and my Yule presents.

I will be celebrating along with my Christian relatives and my Jewish friends too...

Anyways..we Pagans like any excuse to have a celebration and party so we tend to celebrate ALL the holidays  Heck we even get a nice big dragon and celebrate the Chinese New Year too

Works for me and I always have a lot of fun things to do and places to go.

16. So true.

I love Christmas time, it's a tradition, and well, just because I no longer believe in GOD or religion doesn't mean I can't enjoy myself with Christmas.

Another dummy who lacks giftgiving skills. It's not that hard,BT. Just remember, no one wants this, EVER:

I've noticed that most, if not all of her threads are C&P without comment.

Yeah.

That's why I don't bring the kaput primitive's bonfires over here; nearly all copy-and-paste from dubious sources, and none of her own writing.

I however always read the kaput primitive, and have nominated her for TOP PRIMITIVE OF 2009.

Oh, I dunno Joanne--your absence would be a gift no amount of money could buy.
