Post by: Texacon on December 04, 2009, 01:53:33 PM
I know it's not a big deal to a bunch of y'all but we are getting SNOW!  We only get snow about once every 10 years so it is odd to see if coming down.  And it is coming down hard!

The really strange thing is we got snow about this time last year too ...... Globull Climate Change?!   :lmao:

We are forecast to get 1 - 3 inches and Houston is supposed to get 3 - 5 inches.  We're only 70 miles north of Houston.

Nope, go back about 150 years and you will find the cattle drives from your neck of the woods were held up by blizzards.    Not climate change, just the circle of climate that comes and goes.

We never get snow up here.  I hope the snow down there holds out for the kiddos to enjoy it.  I know a 16 year old girl in Houston who is celebrating her birthday today.  What a present!

AM, how south?  My Mom is in Rockport.  I wonder if she will get some.

I'm right on the edge of the front, inland. She's due east, on the coast.  Most of the sleet/snow is supposed to be inland.  There's sleet all around me, but not here. Just spitting at me.

It hardly snows worth a crap down here.  We're in some sort of plateau or something and snow always seems to go around us like we're not even here.

Driving to Nashville tonight and flying into Omaha in the morning then driving to Grand Island...

Talked to my son earlier this afternoon and he said it was 16 degrees and the wind was blowing. It was snowing last night in Omaha according to the internet.

The weather prognosticators are calling for an inch or two here tomorrow with 3-6 inches up in the mountains.... :o

I would much rather be spending my time in Omaha than Grand Island.

Omaha has good memories for me....my step family was from Council Bluffs, and I lived in Omaha for 3 years after college.

Grand Island....no....among other things....my ex husband lives there. I doubt I will be seeing him....but if I do...he will be sorry.... :evillaugh:

I have not seen snow in 3 years. If I wanted to, I could go into the Sierras but I don't miss it that much.

Bullshit. I can show you pics of my house in Denison in the early 60s that's covered in snow. I remember when Garland got an ice storm that put two inches of ice on the roads. My dad went ice skating around the town (damned Yankee) Every couple or three years, North Texas seemed to get a snowfall of some sort when I was growing up. Then, the very day I moved back to Texas from Minnesota, (almost two years ago now) there was a fresh fallen 8" of snow on the ground in Denison. I was like........ WTF!!! I thought I had left this shit behind.

Well alrighty.  What I SHOULD have said, is that we get ICE. Been here in the DFW since 80, and  I have seen snow, but not like the cool fluffy stuff, more like the cold crunchy stuff.  My early years were in the Northeast.  I saw a blizzard 1978, I think, cover my mom's Malibu Stationwagon.  I was referring to a snowplow having to drive the streets and move the snow.  Ice storms we have plenty of.  I want real snow.  Although, it would be cool to see enough ice in Garland to see someone skating through it.

That's not "covered", that's "dust".

Know it's nothing like I grew up with in Michigan, but woke up to snow this morning here north of Birmingham, Alabama.  Third year in a row for the white stuff since I've lived here, but this early in the winter is unusual.  Oh well, lots of coffee and throw another log on the fire :fuelfire:.

4-6 forecast for today.  Won't stick around long.  Don't know if I'll be able to say the same for the stuff that's scheduled for next week.  Highs predicted in the upper-20's and lows in the teens next weekend.

Holy shiiite...they're calling for possible single-digit lows by the end of the 10-day forecast.  Whelp, looks like winter is here.

I'll give ya that one.  While we get quite a bit each winter, it's NOTHING compared to the lake effect snows in upstate NY.

Dang sure didn't stick around long here.  It was melted by 5:00pm.  We're back in the 70's this coming week.  Go figger!

I'm in the middle of Lake Champlain, so I don't get it QUITE that bad. Most of that snow gets dumped before it crosses the Adirondacs.

Driving to Omaha late tomorrow afternoon....supposed to snow here in Grand Island tomorrow, then heavier in Omaha tomorrow night.

We head for Nashville on Monday and we won't get out of the snow until east of Kansas City according to the weather channel. Then it switches to rain.....

Got to love the white stuff unless your driving in it and your car has no weight to keep from sliding into some other persons car. I was stationed Ft Drum NY and I think the smallest amount it snowed while i was there it was at least 6". back in 2004 we had three snow storms that dumped more then 12" of snow wihing a two week period. So ALGORE hows that Global Warming thing working out?

Considering a bunch of dumbasses have given him on the order of several HUNDRED MILLION dollars, I'd say it's working out pretty well for him, indeed.
