Giving this a shot for dinner tonight.

After the big white meat fest this weekend.  A v****e friend made it for her Thanksgiving and pronounced it delicious with a little tweaking.

I've got baby bellas and shitakes, gonna use a little Worcestershire and red cooking wine in the shrooms. Gonna put some garlic and fresh rosemary in the cream cheese mixture.

ETA: Well, I'm already screwed. I thought it said 8 oz. of mushrooms. I should known better. I just sliced some potatoes and put them in the skillet on top of the onions so they will cook for awhile and I'll lay them in the bottom of the pie.

3. It was really good.

The potato kinda screwed with the texture, tho. But Bill liked it with the potato.

7. I am going to have to try it.

My husband loves potatoes so I will be a copy cat.

4. Pretty! I want to try that.

Mom isn't a big meat eater so am always scrambling for v****e type entrees.

5. I made sure to read the reviews with the recipe and found that you can't do this in a 10" pie plate. With the size of the puff pastry, it has to be an 8". Surprisingly enough, I did a decent job with the lattice top. At least I didn't make another mummy.

And make sure to get plenty of mushrooms!

6. We need a forum journal "Things that Went Bump in the Kitchen".

When I made the pumpkin sauce, the sauce came out surprisingly sweet. Everyone said, I didn't know pumpkin was so sweet.

Well, *I* didn't know Libby canned pumpkin pie filling and didn't notice it until the third time I went to use some stuff out of the can. Don't tell anyone.

The wired gassy primitive, from the farmette up over there in Wisconsin:

11. when I went back for more pumpkin after tsgiving...

...all they had was organic pie filling. Spices and sweetener already in the ding-dang stuff. I tried it. It made the weirdest pie! I couldn't eat it. Ugh!

So the stuff you used was already realllllly sweet, FYI. Evaporated cane syrup is what was in the stuff I used. Never again.

Heck I just made some MORE chicken/cornish game hen soup for our supper. Pretty much poultry-ied out. Tasty soup though!

Had family yesterday for non-traditional Thanksgiving dinner. It went as well as expected.

10. Beautiful pie!

8 oz. versus 8 C. and you still pulled it off! I bet it was delicious & just what the doctor ordered after the holiday meat orgy.

12. Thanx yeller, sweetie.

It was a nice change of pace. And I didn't make another mummy!

We got six frash aigs today!

Hope you had a really lovely holiday up there.

Just what you need to start your holiday baking. We had chicken enchiladas in mole sauce at a Mexican (authentic) diner/bodega for the holiday. I just finished jury duty that lasted all the month of November. Makes me feel good that everyone's life savings are a little safer now that a few of the sharks have been beached for a while. I'm glad to have my life back and am looking forward to the holiday season again.

15. It hit at just the right time.

I'd finished my book and finished just before the Guantanamo prisoners arrived.

Besides, Kimba Wood was the judge and I was so happy to have the opportunity to see what the nation missed out on by not having her on the Supreme Court. She's fantastic! My pleasure to serve even though it was difficult to commute 3 hours a day - an hour and a half door-to-door IF everything ran just right. The hardest part was climbing all those stairs in the subway, but still a great sense of accomplishment. I'll never read an investment prospectus the same way again.

16. Time to get back to enjoying life on your own terms again. You might be able to set up prospectus workshops for the small investors in your area, now.

17. Uh-huh.

The same thing would happen as happened in the jury. The hardest part of the whole experience was to stay awake! Financial fraud is a snore (unless it's your money!!).

Remember, poor stupid Beth lost her apartment in the queer city by the Bay, and is now holed up with her mother and dogs in an old camping trailer out in the California desert. It doesn't sound like a lifestyle that would include much filet mignon.
