Oh my.
This issue's getting rather old; if I were my fellow alum Skins, I'd put a kibosh on it.

Can DU limit an individual's Unreccs to 3 a day?
I know DU's software can limit the number of threads that a poster can start in one day, that was done during the last Presidential primarys.
I have been critical of Unreccs at DU but would probably favor them IF people had to think twice before using that function. A daily limit on the number of Unreccs anyone can make would make all of us carefully consider how we were willing to use them up. I think it would curb some of the knee jerk Unreccing of OPs just because we may disagree with them, or just because an OP was written by a poster seen as an adversary of some sort.
It's a big bonfire, so only a few primitive comments, selected at random:

1. Why?
Would you also propose limiting "recs"?

8. I subscribe to Blue-Jay's theory of unrec:
1) The thread is not about politics. This is a political website (aside from the Lounge, where rec/unrec is not an issue)
2) The OP is complaining about "recs & unrecs". (Bad Form = automatic unrec)
3) The OP is seeking personal attention, instead of rational discussion. (also Bad Form)
4) The thread is posted by a troll seeking to sow discontent. (Obviously, this is subjective.)
5) The thread adds nothing. (ie. "**** REPUKES!" or "Did you just see what _____ said on TV?")
6) The thread is stupid. (Again, this is very subjective, but I know stupid when I see it. If I'm wrong about the stupidity of a thread, my vote will probably be overruled so there's no harm done.)

15. True. In fact, it may be just the opposite.
Train wrecks tend to pique curiosity.

21. Why kick a thread that you believe adds no value?
I refer you to my reasons for using it:

34. Ah yes, a "cap and trade" program.

77. What would that do to all the "X" Level donators who, because of their monetary donations get an unlimited number of recs/unrecs per thread?
That would be like promising all you can eat at the Chinese Buffet, collecting a customer's money, and then telling them they can only have 3 egg rolls per day.
Hardly fair, and for that I'm adding 10 unrecs to this thread.

What are "Unreccs" ?

What are "Unreccs" ?
It's been a controversy on Skins's island for months, and some primitives, including the maudlin waif primitive, have swum away because of it.
It used to be that primitives could "recommend" bonfires; the more "recs" a bonfire got, the more likely it was that the bonfire would show up on the "front page," or "greatest page."
But for reasons political, my fellow alum Skins got discombobulated by the themes of bonfires showing up on the "greatest page," as many of them did not give a, uh, good face to Skins's island.
So "unrecommends" were devised, in which primitives could "unrecommend" a bonfire, taking it away from the "greatest page."
Unfortunately for my fellow alum, it didn't change much; the silly bonfires kept showing up on the "greatest page."
But because the primitives were so against it, and Skins felt a rare need to assert his authority, my fellow alum stubbornly retains the feature; the more the primitives whine about it, the more Skins seems determined to keep it.

Gotcha. Sota like a "bump", but the opposite.
Graci!

I think it is hilarious considering what they like to do to online polls.

You can almost hear the whoops and primal screams as they fling unrecs at each other like so many monkeys in a zoo.

Yeah, that's it.
We used to have something similar here when conservativecave was first started, although it didn't affect placement of threads--the "high five/bitch slap" feature, which one used to indicate his pleasure or displeasure at a specific comment.
But as some here were getting like 5,000 "bitch-slaps," it got sort of out of hand, and so was eliminated.

That's exactly what it is, too.
By the way, "unrecs" seem to discombobulate two PoP in particular--Oscar Wilde (the "Cyrano" primitive) and the sparkling husband primitive (the "Stinky the Clown" primitive).
They really get unglued with "unrec's."
So I encourage all those with moles to "unrec" their bonfires as much as possible.
It's funny to watch them get unhinged over it.

Help yourself to it. Just something I did in 2 minutes a while back. :-)

Only a three a day? But there is so very much stupidity on DU that just begs to be unrec'ed!
