..... as a political issue. I want to scream every time I hear some talking head ****wad (like Matthews) refer to a candidate's 'faith'.
**** a candidate's faith. I don't want it in my political system and I bet you don't either. A good deal of the world's ills go back to 'faith'.
Faith for individuals is fine'n'dandy. Just keep it individual. But in the public arena .......

Instead of the usual comments about Sparkly letting you handle your own balls tonight, I have question: the US is facing the very real possibility of having a democrat in the White House soon. That coupled with a democratic majority congress, why are you still miserable?

13. I had an argument with a guy about Obama being a Muslim.
He's a neo-con so obviously he thought Obama was a Muslim, no matter how many times it's been debunked. I asked him why it would be bad to have a Muslim president. He said "we are at war with the Muslims, they hate our way of life." Oh, ok.. I see, all Muslims hate us. Ok. "So what religion are you" I asked him. He proudly replied, painting himself into a corner, "Baptist". I had him now.. "So then I guess you wouldn't vote for yourself for president?" He looked at me with that neo-con you must be an idiot look. "What are you talking about, Baptists don't hate our way of life and we aren't at war." God I love it when they set themselves up to look like fools. I replied, "so then I take it you've never heard of Fred Phelps and the Westborough Baptist church? They protest at the funerals of American Soldiers and claim they deserve to die because America accepts homosexuality." The color drained from his face as he replied "well they don't represent all Baptists". I felt like Jack ****ing McCoy, and I made my closing argument. "So then if we were to have a Muslim run it would be ok since no one person represents an entire religion?" His closer? "Well, we're at war".
Kinda off topic but a good look into the mind of a person who thinks religion is a litmus test for holding office.

A good deal of the world's ills goes back to the corruption of man and bastardization of any economic, social, or religious more in order to promote his own self-benefit ie sin. Faith is a beautiful thing and not what makes the world 'ill'. Sin makes the world ill and bastardizes that which is good. Faith generally has the opposite effect, but please sparkly, don't let the 'little' truths of this world and the next keep you from being your usual cheery self. :whatever:
