COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Stefanie Spielman, the wife of former Ohio State linebacker Chris Spielman, died Thursday night at age 42 after a more than 10-year fight with breast cancer.
Chris Spielman took a year off from his NFL career when Stefanie was first diagnosed in 1998, and since then the family has worked to raise awareness and money for breast cancer research. The Stefanie Spielman Fund for Breast Cancer Research at the James Cancer Hospital at Ohio State has raised more than $6.5 million. She also created Stefanie's Champions, a program that honors cancer patient caregivers.

Chris Spielman was a class act. You and your family are in my prayers.

God bless. Ten years is a long battle.
Rest in peace, Mrs. Spielman.

God Bless Stephanie and her family.
Note she was 42 and diagnosed at 32....no reason for mammograms until 50 and no need for self breast exams, huh?

JohnnyReb shifts brain into DUmmie overdrive....."But under Obamacare she would not have suffered for 10 years."
My condolences to the family.

Under the new guidelines....she would have been diagnosed to late....and probably given less than 6 mos to live.
As it was....she and her family were given 10 more years....of making every day count. She had 4 children and they were given 10 more years with their mother...
Having lost my mother(45 when killed in a car accident) when I was 13....believe me when I say, I would have cherished another 10 years with her, even if she had been sick.
