4. Absolutely not. However, the CIA might be leaning on the
Colombians to do so. After all, what caused this standoff is the Colombians crossing the border into Ecuador to assassinate a FARC leader there.
Right now, Chavez looks very prudent in his action. Just because this country doesn't like a foreign leader doesn't mean that leader is irresponsible. After all, Iranian troops have been massed on the Iraq border since Stupid invaded. Other than a few exchanges of rockets with the Kurds, they have not crossed that border. They're only there as a very wise precaution.

22. They will use the Columbian Army, mercenaries, and
about 1-2000 American soldiers who are already there in the BS war on drugs.
Plus with billions of dollars in new weaponry

3. That was my first impression as well . . .
. . . though the lack of forces and resources would be a pretty big problem. War tends to be good for the economy though, especially if Venezuelan oil is part of their plan.

13. Plus it gives them an excuse to lower spending on social programs
It's the perfect neocon setup, isn't it? Contractors get more money, less money is spent on the programs they don't like, and they get to pretend they are spreading "American Democracy" around the world.
The PNAC members must be in a constant state of orgasm right now.

25. Please learn about the incredible things going on in
South America.. It is truly an amazing revolution...
Finally, after 500 years the indigenous people are having a voice , they are
taking control of their country and electing indigenous presidents who are doing
wonderful things for their people, rather than continue to be exploited by the American Corprotacracy... and in a large degree becuase of Hugo Chavez..
However, the American press has painted it as a socialist movement that is against democracy and freedom (sound familiar?).. They call it a leftist movement... But for the most part it is not discussed at all !
Yes, please take some time and learn about the Bolivarion Revolution taking hold of Latin America.

Hugo Chavez is a communist dictator you idiot.

I supposed they'll burn Venezuela to the ground. That WILL send a message.
Not as good a message as adding Venezuela as the 51st state. :-)
-
Well the DUmmies believe that we invaded Iran 3 or 4 times in the last few years so why not invade Venezuela too. :-)
Chavez is doing everything they accuse Bush of doing and they love the guy. What a bunch of idiots.

I think there is a fairly good cahnce that any Venezuelan army formations found on the Colombian side of the border will be bombed into oblivion by US munitions dropped from US planes flown by US pilots.
Chavez may lose a large part of his navy and air force as well in his efforts to thwart our efforts.
