Video: The Goracle on geothermal temperatures
Conan: Now, what about … you talk in the book about geothermal energy …

Al: Yeah, yeah.

Conan: and that is, as I understand it, using the heat that’s generated from the core of the earth …

Al: Yeah.

Conan: … to create energy, and it sounds to me like an evil plan by Lex Luthor to defeat Superman. Can you, can you tell me, is this a viable solution, geothermal energy?

Al: It definitely is, and it’s a relatively new one. People think about geothermal energy — when they think about it at all — in terms of the hot water bubbling up in some places, but two kilometers or so down in most places there are these incredibly hot rocks, ’cause the interior of the earth is extremely hot, several million degrees, and the crust of the earth is hot …

How can people take Owl Bore seriously?  If the Earth's core were several million degrees, it would be a sun.  :censored: moron.

For a guy who invented the internet, he doesn't seem to know much about science.  Or geothermal energy, which has actually been in use in a few especially-well-suited locations for several decades.

Well, I was talking about things more like large geothermal plants in Iceland - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Geothermal_power_in_Iceland (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Geothermal_power_in_Iceland) - I think what GWB has is more of a heat banking system.

And the genius Al Bore says, "....but two kilometers or so down in most places there are these incredibly hot rocks, ’cause the interior of the earth is extremely hot, several million degrees, and the crust of the earth is hot"

2 kilometers...that's about 1.2 miles or maybe 8.000 feet down, right Al? ....and it's several million degrees down there, right Al? Well hell Al, we better not poke any more holes in the earths thin crust....we might just let all that hot air out and then the world would go flat.

Better join the flat earth society to day y'all.

Yeah, I know. Seems I read somewhere that they have drilled as deep as 7 miles or about 36,400 feet.

All I can think is that, "Al's followers will buy anything." Now if I could just think of something to sell them......got it, "Carbon Credits"....oooops, that ones taken.

It became apparent to me that Al knows less than nothing about science (in any discipline), back when he was a Senator, and launched the debate over the quantity of water in a toilet flush.......claiming that there was a shortage of a substance that 3/4ths of the earth is covered with..........he simply has no credibility, and why anyone that DOES know even basic High School science listens to him on any of these topics is simply beyond my comprehension......

You need to hang out at the bars and sell 'em alcohol credits, Johnny.  Just a little certificate (receipt) they can show the cops when they get pulled over for DUI, saying that they have purchased a portion of some non-drinker's BAC reading on the breathalyzer.

Oh wait a minute; a good portion of Al's followers are Teh Gheys.  Does that mean you have to hang out at the ghey bars?   :rotf:
