Are we missing the obvious concerning the promotion of Sarah Palin?
I mean, seriously, any moran with an ounce of brains knows that Palin is an empty head. Nothing to bring to the table. Unless it's a poker table and the stakes are articles of clothing.
So why is she so hyped by the GOP? Might it be "the stupid vote?" Might the hope that all the 'Murkin-flag-do-rag wearin', Holocaust-banner-wielding, birth-certificate-damanding idiots in America might actually make up enough of a voter base to be worth courting? I mean, who the hell else is left? The stupid are left unrepresented. And a pretty figure like Palin offers them, uh...pretty. And, you know, she's someone you might actually let your spouse do on a drunken Friday at the trailer park. And she knows the general direction of Russia. I mean, hell, if you thought George W. Bush was a prez you could have a beer with, Palin is the candidate you could do Jager shots with, and later wind up in the hot tub.
Maybe it's a brilliant strategy.

5. She certainly seems to bring out the worst in a lot of people: "And, you know, she's someone you might actually let your spouse do on a drunken Friday at the trailer park." Wow. That's just sad.

12. It could be sad if you took it seriously.
Wow. Lighten up.

8. So how does this rec thing work again?
That many Palin supporters actually exist here on DU? Wow.

Just sayin.

13. Sarah is trying to make some money.
She has cooked up a scheme in which people will give her cash for her book.
Thus ends the conspiracy.

14. But why is is the GOP-controlled media so willing to give her the free air time?
She is a non-story. And if there WAS an actual story, it would be about how such a vacuous scatterbrain could be even considered as a serious political contender for ANY national office. But no -- they're treating her the way her people on the right tell Obama NOT to treat the leader of Iran, etc. That is, if you give them a stage and give them a forum you are legitimizing them.

15. You mean like Oprah?
Not sure if you mean Fox or the press in general ... but the reason THEY are giving her so much attention is THEY are trying to make money too.
Sure, she's a puddin' head but she's good TV. And good TV = cash.

16. Not a fair comparison -- Oprah actually MAKES billions.
Whereas Oprah actually brings in huge amounts of money and helps with cash flow, Sarah is a loss leader. They've chosen to take a beating now and if it works out, they'll make their money on the back-end -- the 2012 election.

20. She is a stalking horse
She is nothing but a placeholder while the GOP desperately attempts to redefines itself. When the time is right she will step aside and deliver the base as tasked, but with drama.

28. Nope. Not at all.
Listen to Pat Buchanan, or Rush or any of the hard right-wingers. They have a hard-on for Palin.
You know, the sarcasm icon isn't actually accepted punctuation. Yet.

CNN seems determined to undermine her... any reporting they do gets pushed off to their Showbiz segments. Just the thing for someone you want to delegitimize.

The Little Goons suffer from Sarah Terra. The main symptom is the uncontrollable urgency to say anything and everything about sarah Palin that is the exact opposite of the reality about Sarah Palin.
-
I was never as big of a defender of Palin during the campaign last year as many of you were. I liked the substance of some of her speeches, but was worried that she was too much of a lightweight to even help the flailing McCain campaign.
I heard her for half an hour on Rush's show yesterday, and she was FANTASTIC. I know, it was a controlled atmosphere, but she articulated conservative values wonderfully. Both style and substance. I don't know if she's the right person to run in 2012, but she could certainly be utilized as a valuable asset for the conservative movement. And dare I say, the Republican party.

I'm kind of lost with the Cholly Knickerbocker primitive comment about "20%."
What's the Cholly Knickerbocker primitive talking about?
Or better yet, what does the Cholly Knickerbocker primitive think he's talking about?
-
All of I've seen at the DU and the trolls at other sites is "stupid stupid stupid." They provide no support for their thesis. When asked, they trot out the tired Tina Fey quote about "Russia from my house." They've got nothing else. I think Sarah has grown a great deal over the past year, and by all accounts her current appearances have been great. The stupid meme is going to run out of gas. I'm sick of it.
That trailer park remark from Pedro was disgusting.
Oh, and Frank's ex-lust was over there on DU nagging people about being sexist toward SP (Newsweak cover). She just wishes she would just "GO AWAY." :-)

20% of what? That's just another number covered with buttnuggets cuz it was pulled fresh from the ass.
If someone is really an empty headed moron, it is always self-evident. It doesn't take eleven AP reporters to bring it to light. Empty headed moron is a surface condition and cannot be hidden.
Sarah Palin is never anything less than articulate, wise, educated, book smart, world smart, up-to-date, and in control - ya'know, all the things it is impossible to fake. Brilliant people can fake being morons (I do it all the time), but it is impossible for morons to fake being brilliant.

That cover made my day over and over again as I was delivering mail yesterday :-) The second thing that I kept thinking of was how unhinged it would make DU once they saw it

That's our pal Pedro Picasso, for sure.

I have yet to see the GOP pushing Sarah Palin in anyway whatsoever. The media does keep covering her, and trying to denigrate her, but other than that she seems to be ignored by the GOP, but conservatives do seem to like her.

I think at this point, its for the best - Sarah has some serious work to do over the next couple of years if she intends to run again. Getting mired in with the GOP will do nothing but string her up as she was with McCain. At the same time, I can see how The powers that be would be concerned with Palin since she came out of nowhere and managed to turn long-standing tradition upside down. In other words they are both risks to each other, and I can accept that. I also suspect that if Sarah can make a compelling case on her own, then the Republican party will be receptive to her.
In other words, Sara Palin's future is up to her, and I think both she and the GOP wouldn't want it any other way.

My point was that the DUmmies and other lefties keep trying to tie Sarah to the GOP. She put the kibosh to that idea when she backed Hoffman against the GOP chosen liberal Scuzzy.

I actually think that Sarah Palin will be the President--in 2020. See, the Obamination is going to **** up hugely over the next three years. Just wait until the Obamessiah has a Republican Congress to deal with. He'll think that he's got "the public" behind him, and he'll try to push his agenda still, and it will get nowhere. Result--he'll get buried in 2012. Not only that, but the Senate will go fillibuster-proof from the Democrats. The damage from the Obamination will be so great, and the public will be reminded of that when they have to confront the huge debt that the current administration is racking up. To be fair, a lot of it was President Bush's fault. But proposing what the Obamination is proposing now, then saying that we need "deep budget cuts" the next budget--well, most Americans can see this tripe for what it is. And Sarah Palin puts a voice to those concerns. Whoever the Republican nominee is in 2012, he will most likely win re-election in 2016. The memories of massive debt run up by stupid government spending will still be fresh in the minds of the voting populace. The only way to keep that from happening again is to keep a Republican in the White House. Then, the United States has its first woman President in the personage of President Sarah Palin--the 46th President of the United States.

By the way, I noticed Pedro Picasso hasn't donated yet to the fund drive.
