Hoffman 'unconcedes' in N.Y.-23 House race
Source: The Hill
Conservative Party candidate Doug Hoffman has "unconceded" in New York's special House election after reports that the vote margin between him and Rep. Bill Owens (D) has narrowed.
Hoffman conceded the race on Election Night after learning he trailed Owens by 5,335 votes. But the Syracuse Post-Standard reported last week that the margin had shrunk to 3,026 votes after recanvassing.

10,000 absentee ballots, a lot of them military I presume. It could come down to being real close.

2. Sure...
Al Gore did in 2000. He conceded early, and then an hour later when more numbers came in he retracted it. Conceding has no legal binding, it's more of a nicety. It just means you won't protest the results of the election, and up to certification you can retract it.
Shut up Freeper Troll.

3. Al Gore did..
So there's precedent...
He'll re-concede in a few days.

Not until those absentee ballots are counted.

Congress alone determines the qualifications and elections of it's members. Not some local election board. Owen can put on all the show he wants. He will not be the next US Congressman from NY23 unless he's talking January 2011.

5. interesting question though, if the NY sec of state certifies Hoffman as the winner
not owens then it opens a can of worms for congress, would they be duty bound to honour the vote or cold they just vacate the election result....
Oh yeah, just let the state board of elections certify Hoffman as the winner, and have the DimRats in Congress refuse to seat him. Talk about a bloodbath for the next few elections.
Still a new fire, so it may get moved to NY State forum when a moderator sees it.

Man, the primitives have really short memories, if they don't recall Alphonse Capote Gore unconceding.
Much of what decent and civilized people do, that the primitives don't like, has a precedent set by.....the Democrats, liberals, and primitives.
They did it first.
-
If it's just absentees, the dem probably doesn't have anything to worry about. Scuzz withdrew so late, she will get a ton of the Republican absentees that would have gone Conservative if there wasn't a Republican running. I know a lot of people here don't believe she was actually a Republican, but to the vast majority of voters, if someone is listed on the ballot as "Republican" then that's what they are.

Their knowledge of 2000 is strictly what they have told one another over and over and is not in the same universe as to what actually happened.

It just blows me away, that a primitive wouldn't remember Alphonse Capote Gore unconceding.
Maybe there's hope that the primitives will forget that George Bush was president of the United States 2001-2009, and we'll finally get a new villain of the primitives.

History is always very inconvenient for them.

Your thoughts are mine, but it's still fun to read about the Little Goons' fear/soaked smelly pants.

Actually, he might have done the honorable thing and conceded had he not been approached by a few of his aides and handlers who basically said, "Hey, hold on! We can cook and re-cook these books until we squeeze out a majority for you!"
Thankfully, the Supremes stepped in and put a halt to their bullshit.

For cryin' out loud, what planet do you live on, Uranus? Congress has nothing to do with STATE elections or the certification of office! Do you really believe congress can ignore the vote of the people? Oh, that's right, you're a DUmbass!
Uh, hey "el stupido", the state legislature has communicated to the congress they may not be able to "certify" the election results until all the ballots are counted. If the vote count leans toward Hoffman, then he will be the elected rep!!!!!!!! That is quoted from the state election board, asshole! ESAD!

And thus the whole "count every vote" meme from 2000 is proven to be just as we predicted it to be: a fat load of bullshit. Liberals don't give a damn about every vote. They only care about every vote that allows them to win. The unspoken conclusion to their meme is "count every vote until we win, then stop counting."
If this situation had been reversed, you can bet your life that the DUmmies would be calling for Hoffman to be removed from office if Owens unconceded and won. They would not be arguing "He's already been seated" or any of the bullshit Gman spewed.

7. Welcome to DU - interesting username....

"mnbac1" could mean anything, but of course the DUmmies jump to the conclusion that it refers to Michele Bachmann, who they hate with incredible passion.

The answer is clear. As AlGore did in 2000 simply have all the military ballots voided....for some reason.

What a bunch of obvious, hypocritical jackasses! They'll void military/absentee ballots for any little technicality, but when people can't punch a ****ing hole correctly, they appoint scads of people to "determine the intent of the voter."
