Title: Survey help for my research paper
Post by: Micha on November 13, 2009, 11:56:58 PM
It would help me out soooooo much if you could answer some questions for me for my English research paper. Serioiusly, I would greatly appreciate it.  I am writing a paper on liberal Hollywood.

1) Explain why you consider yourself conservative.

2) Do you believe there are more liberal or conservative films being made in America?

3) What psychological, social, moral, and political views do you see dominating Hollywood today?

4) Give an example of a psychologically driven film that was released in the last year.

5) Give an example of a socially driven film that was released in the last year.

6) Give an example of a morally (showing high or low morals) driven film that was released in the last year.

7) Give an example of a politically driven film released in the last year.

8) Do you believe that Hollywood is conspiring to “brainwash” Americans to the liberal left, or conservative right?

9) Do you believe the MPAA rating system is too liberal or too conservative. Explain.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Who can afford to go to the movies in this Obama depression?

Apparently, nobody.  I have to go to Portsmouth to see a movie, since the local movie theater chain went bankrupt in September.

1) Explain why you consider yourself conservative.  There are rights and wrongs in this world.  Conservatives side with what is right, liberals always side with what is wrong.  I hate being wrong.

2) Do you believe there are more liberal or conservative films being made in America? While not as many as a couple of years ago there are still a lot of liberal movies being made.  I think Hollywood finally woke up to the fact that most of America isn't going to pay to see some idiotic liberal movie.

3) What psychological, social, moral, and political views do you see dominating Hollywood today? Making a ton of money is always bad, being faithful to your spouse can't be done, everyone is gay, and there are never any muslim terrorists.
4) Give an example of a psychologically driven film that was released in the last year.

5) Give an example of a socially driven film that was released in the last year. Swing Vote, W, Milk, American Son, Battle For Haditha, Way of War, The Betrayal, Capitalism A Love Story.

6) Give an example of a morally (showing high or low morals) driven film that was released in the last year. Transformers 2 was actually a high moral movie The Way We Get By and G.I. Joe, low moral movies would be The Informers, Dance Flick, Baby On Board, Brothers Bloom, The Girlfriend Experience, Lakeview Terrace, Milk, Watchmen.

7) Give an example of a politically driven film released in the last year. See answers for #5

8) Do you believe that Hollywood is conspiring to “brainwash” Americans to the liberal left, or conservative right? No, I don't think trying to push a set of values or lack of values would be considered brainwashing.

9) Do you believe the MPAA rating system is too liberal or too conservative. Explain.  I honestly think it is almost perfect.  We watch a lot of movies and so far the ratings have been right where I would have put them too.

Good rely, the only change I would make:

I would put "Capitalism A Love Story" as a "psychologically driven film".

I hope you don't get too upset.

In my town back in the 50's and 60's there were 3 theaters and 3 drive-in theaters... now there's one old one left and when Obama makes'em quit selling sugary drinks and putting butter on the popcorn, it'll be gone.

It would help me out soooooo much if you could answer some questions for me for my English research paper. Serioiusly, I would greatly appreciate it.  I am writing a paper on liberal Hollywood.

1) Explain why you consider yourself conservative.  I am conservative because I believe in the principles of our founding fathers...and in their faith.  I believe that right and wrong, truth and lies, & good and evil are actual, objective things and are not determined by anyone's feelings.

2) Do you believe there are more liberal or conservative films being made in America?  Hollywood is something like 98% liberal, so there are very few conservative films even considered.

3) What psychological, social, moral, and political views do you see dominating Hollywood today?  The farther left the view, the more common it is in Hollywood.

4) Give an example of a psychologically driven film that was released in the last year.

5) Give an example of a socially driven film that was released in the last year.

6) Give an example of a morally (showing high or low morals) driven film that was released in the last year. "Fireproof," High morals, NOT Hollywood.

7) Give an example of a politically driven film released in the last year.

8) Do you believe that Hollywood is conspiring to “brainwash” Americans to the liberal left, or conservative right?  Not really brainwash, but they produce mostly propaganda.

9) Do you believe the MPAA rating system is too liberal or too conservative. Explain.

Thanks in advance for your help!

I can't be of any more assistance because we seldom waste time or money on current Hollywood productions.

BTW, MrsSmith-
I thought Fireproof was an exceptional movie.  It is a shame that more people did not go and see it, although I hear the book is doing very well.  I bought one myself for future use.  :)

1) Explain why you consider yourself conservative.
Obviously the root word of conservative is "conserve". I am not afraid of progress but unless we conserve the lessons of history we progress towards goals we may regret along paths no one has travelled before. History...repeating...dooming...you get the drift.

I'm a conservative because if a centralize states makes an error--and those errors occur more often than not--it subjects all beneath it to its error and corrections come slow. Whereas, as a decentralizing federalist if I make a mistake it does not effect those outside the immediate political sphere and the smaller sphere allows for more immediate correction.

2) Do you believe there are more liberal or conservative films being made in America?
I'm not a Christian. On the contrary I'm something of a quasi-hedonistic nihilist. Yet, I am amazed at the abuse and ridicule Christians endure from mainstream movies. From what I've read and studied Jesus was a pretty awesome kinda guy and yet he is mocked at every turn. G K Chesterton said it best when he said virtue has become so rare it has all the exhiliration of a vice.

3) What psychological, social, moral, and political views do you see dominating Hollywood today?
I may be wrong but James Cameron's new film Avatar looks like I am once again supposed to feel guilty about being a descendent of white settlers in America.

4) Give an example of a psychologically driven film that was released in the last year.
The Hurt Locker

5) Give an example of a socially driven film that was released in the last year.
I see films such as Rendition, Stop Loss, Jarhead et al and all I can think is I'm supposed to feel that only America has ever fought wars and they have always done so against poor slobs mistaken for terrorists who are really misunderstood oppressed peasants and the troops sent to fight them are poor, half-educated emotional basket cases.

6) Give an example of a morally (showing high or low morals) driven film that was released in the last year.
pr0n

At least it's honest.

7) Give an example of a politically driven film released in the last year.
see #5, above

8) Do you believe that Hollywood is conspiring to “brainwash” Americans to the liberal left, or conservative right?
Brain-washing only by way of the fact a bunch of image-conscious rich elitists run around congratualting themselves for being so-o-o not like the rich corpratists that produce, market, distribute their films (or pay the wages of the people going to see these films).

9) Do you believe the MPAA rating system is too liberal or too conservative. Explain.
No opinion really.

It made the church quite a bit of money, which they're probably going to use to improve their next movie.

You should get "Facing the Giants" and "Flywheel."  Great movies, especially given the tiny budgets...and you'll be helping to support their work.   :-)
