Judge Nixes S.C. License Plate with Cross
AP) A federal judge ruled Tuesday that South Carolina can't issue license plates showing the image of a cross in front of a stained glass window along with the phrase "I Believe."
U.S. District Judge Cameron Currie said in her ruling that the license plates was unconstitutional because it violates the First Amendment ban on establishment of religion.
"Such a law amounts to a state endorsement not only of religion in general, but of a specific sect in particular," Currie wrote.
Her ruling also singled out Lt. Gov. Andre Bauer, who had pushed the bill approving the license plates through the state Legislature. Christian advocates tried to get the same license plate approved in Florida, but the bill did not pass its Legislature.

1. And that's as it should be
This Bauer sounds like some nut case
Next thing you know he will be shouting praise Jebus as he shoots into a crowd of people. :whatever:
It kills me that they mock Christianty constantly there but yet the Muslims are protected.
I think the judge was wrong and violated the 1st amendment. The first clearly states freedom of expression and religion. So if people wanted to buy plates with a cross they should have that option. If they were making this the default plate I could understand there being a problem but it is a specialty plate meaning you have to request it and probably pay extra for it.
Now if a plate for gay rights or abortion was denied they would be in an uproar. I see choose life plates here in FL frequently and I just imagine how the heads of liberals explode when they see them. :-)

The fight over the plates started shortly after Bauer helped push the legislation through in 2008. Groups including Americans United for Separation of Church and State and American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee challenged the state's ability to put a religious message on a state license tag.

Interesting that an arab group was behind this. Nothing was stopping them from requesting their own plate.

The separation of church and state means just that! The Feds cannot dictate a state religion! Where in the hell did these Libs come up with their argument?

I was thinking OBAMANATION (abomination) but that could be misconstrued as supporting him. :-)
