Wind and rain started yesterday...LOTS of wind, rain, and flooding today. The forecast maps aren't looking good at all. The winds here are sustained at around 25-35 mph with guts of at least 50-60 mph. Not a good day to be outside, for sure. We're far enough inland to not have to deal with the massive flooding, but people on the coast are going to have a lot of damage.

Schools are closed today, so it looks like we're all gonna be inside hunkered down watching movies and playing games. Lots still to unpack, too, and I need to build some shelves in my bedroom closet. Hopefully it will be a productive day in spite of the crappy weather outside.

Woot! Enjoy the blustery day.
Feeling better from the flu here and thought, "Thank God after the couple days with the broken foot bones and then the flu I can get back to my normal life!"
Right 'bout then I remembered my normal life sucks walrus dong right now. :(

Why is it that every time I look at a radar map, Crazy Horse is getting rained on?
It seems the seacoast of North Carolina is in a perpetual rainfall.
Day in, day out, week in, week out, month in, month out?
What is it about that particular area of the country?

Scoobie did you move?

Upper 50's to low 60's expected today with a chance of rain.
They let me know at work yesterday that my raise has been approved, and it was effective 11/1, so my next paycheck should be nice :cheersmate:

Scoobie did you move?
Yep...we packed up the fam and moved down here to the Eastern Shore Peninsula of Virginia on November 1st. We had been thinking about it for awhile, mainly because my mom and stepdad, who have lived here for years, have had some major health issues the last few months and it was getting too much for me to make the 3 hour drive down here almost every weekend to help them. When we started doing some research about the area, we found the job market here has picked up quite a bit, too, which is good for both Red and I.
But the deciding factor came when my insane ex-husband landed himself in jail again, and as you know from my history with him, getting my family away from him has been something I've wanted to do for a long time. We jumped on the opportunity to make the move, and with him safely locked up, I didn't have to worry about him going off the deep end and hurting me/us. So it worked out beautifully.
Hannah, who we worried would have some problems making such a big change, has adjusted marvelously well, and is doing absolutely wonderful in school. I think being away from and no longer having to deal with her father's crazy behavior has contributed to that more than anything. She's old enough now to decide for herself how she wants to handle that relationship, and I'm completely supporting her decision to have no contact with him.
So, now, we are about 5 minutes away from my mom and stepdad, and they love that we are here and especially that they finally have their grandkids so close. We found a nice 4 bedroom Victorian style house, which is a lot bigger than where we were, with a huge yard and lots of room for the kids to play. The area is great, very laid back and "country", we have the Chesapeake Bay about 10 minutes directly to our west, and the ocean about 10 minutes directly to our east. Not a bad place to be. :)

Except for the friggin typhoons, right? That's okay. When yours goes down the river to the ocean, my noreasters pile up in my yard until I have about 10 FEET of "global warming" in my front yard until mid- to late April.
Good to hear you're settling in well, kiddo.

Nice!!!! That is awesome news Scoobie -- you will have to email pictures of the kids at the beach. I haven't seen pics of them in a long while!!! Happy hugs!

Yup -- we're in the middle of it too! And we just had a nor'easter last month as well. Every year the beach washes out to sea and every year the dredges bring it back again . . .
-
Scoobie, sounds like heaven on earth to me.
75 degrees and mild again. Not that I will see any of it.

OMG they are soooooooo beautiful!!!!! Hannah is a young lady now -- when did that happen??!!!!
-
Great news Scoob.....love the pics, especially the one of the little one and the dog... :-)
The sun came out about 11....as Ida finally moved on to the north and east. I'm sorry you all are going to really get it...especially along the coast. Saw a clip from near Va Beach and it looked horrendous.
Having a case of the lazies....need to hit the grocery afterwhile.
Have an interior to do that I just got access to....since I was told they are in really bad condition and there are 2 of them....the other half is going with me in the morning.

Cloudy today but no chance of rain. I think the high is supposed to be about 80.
I'm a little jealous of you guys on the east coast. We haven't had a decent rain here in months. It's killing me. Stupid desert.
Not much on the agenda today except work, a few errands, and maybe a little painting. My parents are having plumbing issues at their house so I may have to swing back their house and help move things away or back in place, depending on what the damage is.
With the help of my marvelous parents, I got most of my painting done yesterday. Now I just need to do touch-ups, baseboards, and trim. I would like to paint the hallway too before Thanksgiving but I won't cry if I don't get around to it.
Scoobie, I loved hearing that things are going well in your life. I'm glad your move went so well!

Yep--Hannah defintely got mom's looks. Too bad Ian got his daddy's.
(runs and hides from Red...)

If it's summertime, it means I've dropped four grand on a beach house for that week.

TWC last night was acting like it was the end of the world.

Ought to just call it the KoolAid Global Warming Channel. Wasn't it one of their hacks who said that any weather forecaster who doubted global warming should have their credentials pulled, and then THE VERY NEXT DAY it SNOWED in freakin MALIBU???
Oh, and BTW--How YOU doin'? :naughty:
